“Forget about it ! Keep driving to the next hotel.”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 September 2011

Yeah, we were traveling thru Deming on our way from California to Texas for a family reunion. The rooms were so-so.The jacuzzi was dry and closed down. The receptionist was sweet and the continental breakfast was average. Our problem arose when my husband realized he'd lost his phone, we searched the car and continued on our way to our destination. When we arrived at my family's house I called them to ask about the lost phone and I was surprised to hear them say they had it and would more than happy to mail to us via USPS. I was really releived, especially when they said they would send it right out. Well, we got home 2 weeks later, having a hold on our mail but there was NO phone waiting. I spoke to them 2 more times, the manager assured me she'd sent it. Sorry, personally I think they just didn't get around to it. It's a shame as we had ireplaceable photos and numbers on it. I was dissapointed when they didn't follow thru.

“Excellent rates, rooms, service & breakfast!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 June 2011

We got tired while driving from California to Texas. When we got off the freeway, the hotel was right there. Excellent service by front desk, even though it was after midnight. We were on our room in less than 10 minutes. The next morning we went down to the breakfast, omelet, waffle, cereal, bagel. You name it they had, which was great for our family of five. Overall, very happy with the choice to stay here overnight.

“A Hotel Without Soap”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 21 June 2011

After spending 24 hours at a lovely wedding celebration in City of Rocks State Park, my wife and I were seriously looking forward to checking in, showering, and sleeping at the La Quinta in Deming. We were surprised and quite disappointed to find that there was no soap in our bathroom. No soap at the sink, and no soap in the shower area. Just one-full bottle of shampoo/conditioner, along with one half-empty bottle (and presumably used) bottle of the same.

We had to put dirty clothes back on to go ask the front desk for soap. At the front desk, we were informed that because some cleaning person didn't show up for work that day, the hotel had run out of soap. So the desk gave us more shampoo/conditioner. Later, I found a black hair on top of the toilet seat, which is consistent with what the front desk said about staffing that day. It might also explain why the public bathrooms in the hotel were locked; without the staff to clean and restock them, it wouldn't make sense to keep them open. But if the public bathrooms were locked, the private ones were kept open and rented out to folks such as us, even if they hadn't been cleaned or restocked.. Thankfully, another member of the wedding party staying in the hotel had a small bottle of soap that she had leftover from a previous hotel. She shared it with us and we tried to get clean.

The breakfast was more than I expected, as it included sausages, omelets (not the best in the world but we were grateful), and make-your-own waffles (although they were out of mix by the time we got there at 8am or so). The juice selection was good. The coffee was watery.

The location is a bit on the far end of town, but it is at least close to the highway.

I did not use the pool but it looked clean.

The front desk staff were courteous in what must have been a tough situation for them.

The bed was comfortable and the pillows were nice.

Overall, I think we had bad luck with this particular experience, and I suspect that the La Quinta in Deming is capable of better. Still, the lack of soap after a good 24 hours of camping is hard to overlook. I am jealous of a friend of mine who spent a lot less staying in a motel closer to the center of town. He had soap.

“good for overnight stay with pets”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 June 2011

Very friendly staff. Rooms were clean & quiet. Located off a loud, busy road, so not much to do outdoors. Very pet friendly, but not much walking area for dogs. There was a grassy area behind a nearby hotel that I could walk/excercise the dogs. Did have a small enclosed dog run for small dogs to play in, but was a bit messy. Excellent value as there was no additional pet charges.

“Fresh cotton duvet cover, good bed, big clean room & pets welcome”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 21 February 2011

This AAA 3-diamond La Quinta Inn offered the best linens of all eight La Quintas that we have used in traveling across the country (Maine to Arizona and starting back) with our two cats. Fresh cotton duvet covers are the best upgrade from the more standard sheets and a bedspread. The no-fee 'pets welcome' policy and robust free internet service made us La Quinta fans before, duvet covers would keep us when traveling without pets. Separately, this particular La Quinta had fresh new carpeting, a large room, an air conditioner/heater with controls that work, super-clean bathroom.
