“Not a Comfort Inn”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 April 2007

Planning our return trip from a winter in southern California, my wife and I used Google to research various locations to stop during our drive. We decided on Clovis as a stop and read about the Comfort Inn, the reviews sounded acceptable so we called to make a reservation. We do not recall the people taking the reservation saying it was anything but that they were a "Comfort Inn". Upon reaching there, also after a long drive, we couldn't find it and finally called them to find out their location as there wasn't a Comfort Inn any way near where their address should have been. They told us they were now a Rodeway Inn, confirming our worst fears as we had driven by the place a couple of times. The place was old and just marginally okay for one night. We avoided breakfast. It should be noted sleeping with loud railroad whistles blowing about every 20 minutes all night is close to impossible unless your hearing is gone. We assume all locations along this street have the same problem, but maybe they have some sound deadening. If it was a $30 or $35 room it would been just okay, but nearly twice that is a rip. There is a Hampton Inn close by where we should have stayed.

“Avoid...”

We booked at the Comfort Inn on the Choice Hotels website a week before leaving for a drive across the West. On arriving in Clovis after a long, tiring day of driving, we drove around futilely looking for the Comfort Inn (and asking two people who sent us where they thought it was). We eventually discovered we couldn't find it because it was now the Rodeway - the (surly as noted in another review) desk clerk claimed this was the website's fault and not theirs.
As other reviewers note, the hotel is dilapidated and filthy. Even the lobby ... We checked out immediately upon surveying the scene and moved to a much nicer motel in the same strip.

“Completely awful!”

The stairwells and sidewalks of this motel are filthy with debris; they smell and are sticky from never having been cleaned. The wallpaper in our room was peeling, and the ceiling had a water stain. The desk clerk was surly. We listened to trains from the tracks across the highway all night. Never again!!!!!

We stayed at the Comfort Inn, and the noise from the busy train tracks kept us both awake all night.. The trains seemed to stop about 4 am, but they picked up in full force just after 6 am.. The room was small, but decent.. It was well equipped with fridge and microwave..

“Unorganzied, smelly”

One person booked 10 rooms for a volleyball team. Each person was responsible for calling with personal information to confirm. All called and gave information and front desk person did not have any idea about the team reservation for 5 of us. I and another person got a confirmation number, 3 others did not because they were told they didn't need one. When we arrived, the ones without a confirmation number didn't have a room, and when the others of our party arrived their rooms had been given away, despite 1 having a confirmation number. Upon checkout I saw a list of all of our names with 5 rooms indicating "No one called to reserve room", our name being one of them. Train tracks near by with active train whistles at night. Doors open to parking lot and a few men with beers solicited our 14 year old daughters to come into their room to take pictures. Our room was supposed to be non-smoking but it was obviously not kept that way. I used half a bottle of febreeze just to sleep there. Hairdryer in room did not work. We left after one night.
