My husband and I were travelling from El Paso to Kansas City with my elderly mother-in-law, and had the most delightful experience at the La Quinta in Clovis, NM. We were greeted by Greg at the front desk who was simply amazing in his attention to detail; when he found out that we were travelling with an elder, he gave us a one-room suite on the first floor, just off the lobby and next to the breakfast area, so that my mother-in-law wouldn't have to walk too far and would have plenty of space to move around in the room. He thought of everything--from dog biscuits for our dog to elder-accessible accommodations to recommendations for restaurants and grocery stores nearby; he even gave us the phone number of the NM Transportation Dept so we could check the condition of the roads for the next day!
The room was very spacious and well-appointed; it even had a jacuzzi tub! The hot breakfast was marvelous (nice to have sausage and eggs before a long day on the road!), and the hostess very attentive. The free wi-fi is wonderful, as is the exercise room and pool.
I have to thank Greg especially for his attentiveness to our needs, and to Ashley, the manager, for being so helpful and understanding. Although this hotel is about three miles from the highway, it is WELL worth the side trip for the road-weary traveller.
