“It's all good - exceptionally good!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 20 November 2010

Everything wonderful that has been written on this site about High Feather is true. The only disappointment is that sooner or later, you have to leave! Marianna is the consumate hostess. From the first e-mail contact, to follow up e-mails after we left, she couldn't have been more gracious. It is not that hard to find if you follow the directions carefully - we found it w/o any trouble well after dark. The land is both stark and stunning. You'll be warmly welcomed into a "modern" adobe home. The great room is like the one you wish you had - fireplace, TV, comfy chairs, plenty of games, attractive SW decor and clean as the proverbial whistle. Our bedroom had a fireplace, very comfy bed and squishy pillows, plenty of storage space and large jetted bathtub. We forgot our shampoo & lotion and Marianna quickly provided bottles. There's a guest fridge w/ water and juice. Breakfasts were attractive to the eye and pallate - and the waffle recipe will be shared! The interesting town of Madrid is about 15 minutes away. Restaurants close early, so be prepared. Marianna will provide information for whatever type of excursion you feel like making. Or, if you want to do nothing at all, there are plenty of patios on which to lounge or strectch out in the great room with a good book. Nights are very, very quiet and the stars seem within touching range. There's a new state park in nearby Cerrillos waiting to be explored.

“Already trying to figure out how to come back for a week. Wow!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 October 2010

We were only there two nights and it wasn't nearly long enough. Scheduled too much to do to just sit and savor the hospitality of the owner and tranquility of the environment. We stayed in the Cowgirl room. One of 3 rooms. . This B and B sits on several hundred acres and is pretty far away from either Santa Fe or Albuquerque, but located near the Turquoise Trail with unique little shops, and photo ops. My husband enjoyed one day golfing at Paako Ridge nearby. Breakfast was very sumptuous, with Southwest flavor, and is served either on the patio or inside depending on the weather. We were even treated to breakfast-to-go burritos to eat at the airport which had fellow travelers looking at me enviously. We had planned to star gaze, but instead enjoyed a full moon view from our private patio.

“Panoramic views at this secluded, luxurious adobe ranch house....”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 22 July 2010

Marianna is a warm and wonderful hostess. Her luxurious adobe ranch surrounded by giant Junipers, cholla cactus, and a genuinely panoramic view of several mountain ranges is secluded and a stunner. Her home is a sophisticated ranch house. It has a gorgeous great room with 20 foot ceilings, wood beams, tasteful furnishings.... our room felt old-world European in its luxurious materials, bathroom finishing, and lush scale. Breakfast was as you would expect- lovely and delicious. This cowgirl owns acres and acres above Cerillos and Madrid. We're returning when we get back to Santa Fe. She was kind enough to mail us our forgotten camera. Many thanks, Marianna.

“Great location, decor & service. Excellent!”

This Inn is one of the best in which I have ever stayed. The location is secluded and private, but close enough to Santa Fe to easily drive in for dinning & events. It's just off the Turquoise Trail, so the High Feather Ranch makes a great base camp for experiencing some of the best of New Mexico. It is great for a small corporate retreat; three guest rooms and nice living areas for indoor /outdoor meetings. Also a nice private setting for personal relaxation. You cans see the lights of Santa Fe at night and mountain views in multiple directions. The decor is exquisite. A fine example of straw bale construction meets beautiful Southwest-style architecture in finishes, floor plan and eco-friendly building techniques. This would be a perfect point of exploration for anyone interested in building a Southwest-style home. The hospitality is wonderful: a high level of privacy but also engaging conversation with proprietor and other guests. Breakfast was delicious. A very nice B&B experience overall.

“Enjoy the break from the everyday!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 22 May 2010

We stayed at the Ranch in order to attend a nearby wedding - this is one of the few places to stay in the area, and is well worth it. Marianna the Innkeeper is great, and cooks a mean breakfast (cookbook available and recommended)! Breakfast was fresh and wonderful every day we were there.

It's hard to relate how quiet and peaceful the location is. The stars are so many here they seem to overlap. An SUV is definitely helpful as a rental car, but not required.

If you're there in the spring, be prepared to witness the local airshow, staged by the resident hummingbirds. Plenty of places to just relax and enjoy the scenery. No TVs in the rooms, which was great (though if you really need one, it's there in the great room).

Definitely recommended!
