“A good place to stop and stay.”

We weren't sure where we should stop en route from New Mexico to Monument Valley, and this Best Western in Bloomfield ended up being a great place. The hotel has a lot of guests who, I'm not sure what they do, but they tracked in dirt faster than the staff could vacuum it up. So when you first enter the hotel, you might get the impression that it's really dirty, but it's NOT. The other strange thing is that the hallway smelled like cigarette smoke, but once you entered the room there was no smell at all, so don't let that bother you. Our room looked recently refurbished. It was very nice and comfortable. They even have a remote that they can clean. We were very impressed.

“Like coming home …”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 November 2011

We stayed here in 2006 and I am glad to say nothing has changed.

Clean room, friendly, very helpful staff (thank you Ashley), great breakfast, it is the ONLY place to stay in Bloomfield (yes, we stayed in Super 8).

The room had very nice beds, great pillow selection, plenty of TV channels, nicely appointed with mini fridge and microwave. The bathtub is a bit slippery but rubber mat is provided for your safety. We initially got King room (booked), but the room was facing the road and you can here the traffic noise. Since the room had no heavy, sound deadening curtains we asked for a room on the opposite side and got one with 2 Queen beds.

This should be the standard for any hotel as far as breakfast goes. First the surroundings are nice with the murals painted on the walls, plenty of tables and space to walk by, but the star is the bar itself: fresh fruit, scrambled eggs, sausages and bacon, waffles, choices of breads, pastries, cereal, spreads, yogurt, etc. I always say if you provide free breakfast either do it right (like this place) or do not do it at all.

Bloomfield is growing rapidly and there are new restaurants / places very close to the hotel. No major grocery chain is present at this time, but local grocery store with good selection is about a block away. For even better selection drive a short 15 min drive to Farmington.

If you arrive earlier (before 3PM) like we did in 2006 we highly recommend visit of Wines of the San Juan winery in nearby Blanco, NM (east of Bloomfield and less than 10 min from the hotel). Great wines, family owned and operated winery. Absolutely worth the very short trip.

Our room was close to $100 with tax and it is a great place to spend a night. You will not be disappointed by staying here and we definitely will stay again when in the area.

“Seniors Enjoy Best Western, Bloomfield NM”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 23 October 2011

We arrived at the hotel one evening, traveled to Chaco Canyon and Aztec Ruins the next day, and then returned to the hotel for a second evening. We had a spacious, modern room with a good bed. We enjoyed the services, including maps, brochures and other information; ammenities, especially heated pool and spa; location - on Hwy 550 on the way to Chaco Canyon, adequate restaurant next door and nearby gas stations and shops - and free breakfast, with waffles, hot and cold cereals, fruit, yogurt, drinks, etc. After busy travel days, it was a very nice place to stay.

“Nice hotel in a cetral location”

From this town you can easily visit Aztec Ruins, Chaco Culture National Historic Park, Shiprock, Salmon Ruins, Durango, and Wines of the San Juan, all of which we did in three days.

The hotel serves a free breakfast that is complete and includes an assortment of fresh fruit. The rooms are in good condition and I liked the use of granite in the bath enclosure. The staff are excellent to talk to and they actually spent time talking to us about their life in the Four Corners.

One knock on all the Best Westerns is that the TV in the breakfast area is always tuned to that horrible propaganda station, Fox News.

Room Tip: Rooms at the back are quieter - you avoid the traffic noise from the highway.

“Incredible breakfast!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 17 October 2011

This is the best chain hotel breakfast I've ever had: included a bottomless supply of fresh blueberries and strawberries. Everything else about the hotel is excellent too: big room, good bed, all the amenities. Nice business center. Great jumping off place for Chaco, especially if you are coming from the north. Bloomfield itself is no fun: no interesting places to eat, lots of traffic. But the Salmon Ruins are worth a visit, and of course Chaco is only an hour away.
