“Pretty Good - If You Can Get a Reasonable Price”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 16 January 2012

We stayed in a room in the main building, not a bungalow and the room was fine if a bit tired. Couple of odd things about the room

- Glass panal over the door let loads of light in at night from the corridor with no way of shutting it out. We ended up taping a couple of free maps over it which helped

- Despite being full of rather ugly heavy wooded furniture which these sort of places seem to favour, there was virtually nowhere to put clothes..

The location is great, at the nothern end of Long Beach, this seems to be the nicer end as the beach gets thinner and dirtier the further south you get and the ammount of litter and dogs increases. The beach in front of the hotel gets cleaned each morning. We didn't have any problem getting beds on the beach but I could see that being a problem over the peak Christmas/New Year weeks as there aren't that many sun beds

Breakfast was ok, certainly plenty of food, but nothing that special.

Another plus point of the hotel is it's proximity to lots of places to eat within a 5 minute walk

I do think it's probably a bit over priced but worth a look if you can get a reasonable deal. The hotel was far from full when we left on 13 Jan. Walking up and negotiating seems to be the best approach

“Ok, but a bit impersonal and overpriced”

Nice beach, although quite crowded.
Good pool.
Beach and pool towels provided.
Hotel rooms what you would expect for the price: clean, tv with English channels, aircon. Small safe. Water not always hot.
Reasonably comprehensive breakfast (though no fresh juice, pastries, yoghurt and limited fresh fruit).
Frankly, nothing to justify the cost above other places unless you're desperate for tv and air-con.

“Wrong Place”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 15 January 2012

A travel agent in Ho Chi Minh booked a prepaid 5 day stay during the first week of 2012. She advised us that the resort was "good" and her rate was 35% less than the $130 posted on the web. Obvious, her standard was low.
The resort is ancient and worn; with no air conditioning in the lobby; and no elevators in the three story main building. There are constant whiffs of raw sewage smell in the bathroom, court yard, and beach area. The beach area is narrow and littered with debris. The pool is dirty and has a ridiculous “rinse step” that one trips over constantly. The breakfast buffet is boring; but eatable. The staff is friendly; but impartial. The best time was leaving.

Room Tip: Go to another hotel.

“Location is amazing”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 December 2011

The hotel itself is okay, but the location is what sets it apart. The beach is so gorgeous and serene, and it hasn't been invaded by the onset of tourism (vendors, aggresive locals, too many tourists, etc...) like Patong Beach. Most of the tourists are older European couples. We stayed in a bungalow 50 feet away from the beach. This beach was the highlight of our 6-city vacation. The only local vendor that we saw on the beach during the 5 day stay were little ladies walking by selling fresh fruit that they cut up for you, and it is sooo cheap. An entire pineapple for 20k VND ($1 USD), papaya for 15k VND, and mango for 10k VND. There is a restaurant on the sand that serves American and Vietnamese cuisine. The mushroom pizza was pretty plain and needed more flavor in the sauce. The Vietnamese seafood hot pot and blue crab fried rice were delicious.
The room was pretty spacious. The beds were unimpressive but comfortable. They supply you with complimentary bottled water and daily fruit (we had bananas and clementines).
The breakfast buffet was pretty good. The front desk staff was nice. Unfortunately I got sick and the customer care desk arranged for a car to take me to the hospital. The entire staff was very accomodating to me. It certainly didn't hurt that the bf spoke Vietnamese.

Next time I'm in Phu Quoc, I'd probably check out a different hotel before I return to this one. It doesn't look like much from the entrance. The neighboring hotels looked more 'fabulous' but were completely booked, so we took what was available.

Room Tip: Bungalows cost more but are closer to the beach, and you get privacy.
