“Fantastic location for pure relaxation”

Really enjoyed our stay. Beds are very hard though. We stayed in a Rammed earth bungalow which had a balcony, bedroom and outside toilet. Weather fab every day. Stayed from 14.01.2012 until 23.01.12 so just got back. You don't pay for anything while you are there with cash, they bill you at the end of your stay. Food was fine but fairly expensive compared to restaurant up the road which was lovely and rustic (Segure). Roads very safe to hire bike but the Tarmac gives way every so often to dust tracks, very little road traffic in rural areas. Hotel is perfectly located for relaxation, easily to spend days on beach and surrounding area. Pho Quoc is underdeveloped so not many shops and no sellers on beaches, no kiosks near hotel. Night Market in closest town is vibrant with fresh fish street stalls. Lovely holiday, would recommend to couples, there were kids there but apart from swimming in the sea, not too much for them to do.

“Not the eco resort it advertises”

They have a lovely location but that is probably about it. The resort is too far from anywhere to go elsewhere so you must eat at their restuarant which is ok but by no means great.

Their mosquito nets are oppressively hot and need a fan inside them to sleep. Needing several fans on 24 / 7 is not my idea of an eco resort.

Really it is just a very simple, very sparce resort and that is what it basis its eco claim on.

But it is quiet and there are no motor bikes there so that is very nice and the local staff are just wonderful - as are the vietnamese pretty much everywhere.

Room Tip: WE had a beach front on and I suspect that is as good as it gets. We would have been very dissappoi...

“Enjoying Mango Bay Resort”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 23 January 2012

Mango Bay Resort was a perfect place to celebrate my birthday. It is in a beautiful location on the beach, the buildings are attractive and fit in with the environment, and the food is excellent. The staff were attentive and did everything possible to make our stay there enjoyable. It is a rather long bumpy cab ride to town but we found everything we needed for a peaceful two days at the resort. The food was very good and the staff even surprised me with a birthday cake after dinner. The cake was so large we had to share it with some of the other guests.

This is definitely not the place to stay if you are interested in watching television, an active nightlife, or nearby shopping--although these can all be had by taking a motorbike or cab to town.

We enjoyed the bungalow and the outdoor shower (even the cute little brown frog that jumped into my soap dish) and didn't mind lack of air conditioning in January. I have only two criticisms. The rooms are dark and could use more lighting and I was served a glass of cold red wine with dinner. But neither of these things affected our enjoyment of the resort. We definitely plan to return.

“If only it could last....”

Remember the first time you sat on a beautiful white sandy beach? If you are lucky, that was more than 20 years ago and somewhere remote at the time - like the Carribbean? Now adays, it seems increasingly unlikely to find that beautiful peaceful beach with clean calm waves and lazy afternoons with a cold beer nearby and not much else... well it still exists at Mango Bay and what a dream it is... A beautiful little beach, lots of quiet and rest, cold drinks, some carefully chosen and not too loud tunes, a good massage, and awesome food! My only complaint is that for me it is half a world away...

Phu Quoc is on the verge of major change so get there while the getting is good...a new international airport and whispers of major resort development will make it hard for this little corner of paradise to maintain the magic - here's wishing them lots of luck!

On the practicle side - room was beautiful and well equiped, good bed and lots of hot water to shower. A few tiny bugs and a great chorus of geckos...everything a beautiful quiet little beach place should be!

Room Tip: Plantation rooms are individual buildings with balconies and open air bathrooms. View of gardens an...

“Mango Bay Resort with the family”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 22 January 2012

Mango Bay Resort was our last stop for 5 nights before returning to Australia for Christmas. Our family consists of mum, dad (me), son (18) and daughter (15) and we stayed in the family bungalow with balcony overlooking the water (small massage centre to left of view) , 2 internal rooms with 2 singles beds (4 post w insect net) and queen double bed (4 post w insect net). The beds are hard compared to what we are used to back home but I had slept on harder beds in Vietnam. Several fans per room which were fine for us and the staff lit mosquito coils in the evening to keep the bugs away. The family bungalow is about 50m back from the waters edge and 150m to the main building. The bungalows are well spread out so your not close to other guests. We enjoyed the food and drink selection on offer at the restuarant and beach bar, a bit costly for Vietnam standards but I considered it cheap compared to other resorts we have stayed in Asia. The road from the airport to the resort is all over the place and as you get closer you start thinking what have I done but the narrow bumpy track into Mango Bay Resort leads into a wonderful laid back eco friendly resort on the waters edge. We found that the staff to be friendly and always had a smile. I was concerned that the kids wouldn't enjoy themselves, being no aircon or TV but they really enjoyed it and said they would go back again. It was the perfect finish to our tour of Vietnam where we could stop, relax, read, swim, eat, drink and reflect on our Vietnam adventure. We will be back. Phil, Tan, Ryan & Lauren.
