“basic place to stay”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 31 January 2012

I booked a room at this place for $15/night for 3 nights. Normally I would have paid $6 for a room like this in Cambodia--but it's Vietnam and Phu Quoc and high season--literally everything on Phu Quoc was booked. I was in the Guesthouse behind the bungalows. I had a bathroom in the room. Windows didn't have curtains but I had a sleep mask. Everything was clean and tidy when I arrived--by day 3 things were a little sandy and smelly--but I figured I could have asked someone to come and clean if I'd wanted--I was fine with people not entering my room. The lady and man who worked at checkout were nice and helpful enough. I rented a moto for 3 days for $7/day. Nice enough place, quiet and fine if you want something basic.

“Unprofessional”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 January 2012

We had booked a 3-night stay in a bungalow around New Year's Eve first and only later booked the flight to the island as we knew all accommodations were full.
The day before the flight I confirmed the booking but got a reply saying they had forgot about the booking and only had a room with cold water. Although disappointed we knew we did not have any choice as the island was overbooked. We accepted only to find an email in the morning, right before boarding our plane, stating that they had also given the room to somebody else and we had to look for an accommodation ourselves. Fortunately, already at Phu Quoc airport we arranged a last minute accommodation which was more expensive but allowed us to enjoy our stay.
That is the worst service we had ever encountered.
We do not usually book in advance,

Stayed at this hotel in late November 2011 at a beach front bungalow (the one 2 doors down from the spa) by myself. I am a single male and don't mind 'roughing it' in budget accommodation to save a dollar. I can put up with a lot but when hygiene is compromised that is it for me.

I stayed for 4 nights. On the day of my departure I woke up and noticed I had around a dozen small red bumps on the back of my right hand between my thumb and index finger (in the 'web space'). I also had other red bumps on my hand and arms although they were fairly widely dispersed. At first I thought they may have been sandfly bites but the distribution of 12 in one small space was more than suspicious. I feel looking back they were bites, probably from bed bugs. To further confirm this I met with my partner who came over 2 days later in saigon. After a couple of days of walking around together she noticed she developed the same red bumps on her hands where she had come into contact with mine (ie where we were holding hands).

I'm not surprised at all that this happened. When I got into this place it was in bad shape. My room was not cleaned once in the 5 days I was there and when I got in the towels provided were very stiff (I used my own). The service here is also non-existent. The only word they seem to know is 'tour', which they try to force onto you at every turn. The bungalows don't have hot water (even though the women selling them tells you they have). The wifi is surprisingly good. The bed is uncomfortable. The only positive is that it is cheap (20US for a beachfront bungalow) with double bed.

I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone. There are better places around. Particularly go next door to Lien Hiep Thanh, it's slightly more expensive but at least you don't have to share your bed with any critters of the night. YUCK.

“good for price”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 20 September 2011

low season: US$ 8/12/6 for bungalow single beach to back and 5$ for flat up/roof w cold water (=> oven)

took bungalow at the back 6$: correctly clean (still some marks on blankets/seem no bedbug), mosquito net, shower / hot (sometimes) / western toilet, free wifi (working inside front bungalows, nok in the back but real slow/lot of disconnect), trashbin, broom, 4 power outlets (loose)
ask/given after checkin: fan, blanket, towel, toilet paper

in low/rainy season, the beach on this western side is very windy ... sadly it is not very clean also and a lot of plastic bag in the water.

“too expensive for this standard”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 May 2011

This bungalow hotel is absolutely fantasticly located, direct access to one of the lovliest parts of Long Beach. Unfortunately the hotel is not very good maintained and to be quiet francly... dirty! The bed linen, towels and mosquito net were stained and never changed within 3 days. We complained about the running water tap on the sink wich was never fixed. The rooms have no air condition and the fan was absolutely filthy! The only positve we can mention is the location wich is fantastic as you just walk out of the bungalow and you have your "personal" beach on the doorstep! We were only able to change to a different hotel after 3 nights, as everything was fully booked on Long Beach the time we stayed there. The rates are absolutely overpriced with 25- 40 US dollar.
