We booked the two bedroom villa (Villa Anggrek) at Maya Sayang in Seminyak Bali for 8 nights - a family Christmas. Our son who lives and works in Bali booked the villa for us and overall we had a great time. The pluses were that the location off busy Oberoi street is close to some good restaurants and relatively upmarket shopping. The Christmas week is extremely busy in Bali and every time we walked out of the gates we were in the thick of it. We had our two year old granddaughter with us 4 adults - so the pool was heavenly and the best thing about our stay. The villa had a large open plan living area with a kitchen, which led directly to the pool's edge. We watched our child like a hawk - one thing to note is that there are no pool fences - so this was not a problem for us - but you need to be aware. The bedrooms were separated in their own enclosed 'units' - each with a large bathroom, air conditioning - they were comfortable and spacious - each with a tv if you wanted your own space. Staff at Maya Sayang are friendly and obliging - and everything went more or less to plan. If i have any suggestions for improvement they would be that the villa needs a thorough deep clean - the kitchen cupboards under the sink were atrocious and leaking and the bathroom / ensuite areas are just not up to scratch. It would have been good if someone had come to do a bit of a vacuum of the pool during our 8 nights, and while it was still very swimmable - it would have benefitted from being tested and given the once over. The cleaning team do come when you ring up (I think they do this for privacy) but they spend very little time there and it gets only a cursory sweep up. The package involved breakfast cooked in the villa - we took this about half the time and went out to the local restaurant by choice the other half. Different people come to cook and some times, it is better than others. if the kitchen had been cleaner I think we would have enjoyed it more. Overall, we loved staying in our own villa - there was plenty of room, we had privacy and the pool was gorgeous. If Maya Sayang could put a bit more effort into sprucing up the place and perhaps offer a wider menu for the breakfasts - such as giving us bread to toast and some continental choices that would also have been good. Laundry was taken from us when we wanted and it did not cost much to have done, which was great. In all we really enjoyed our stay - this is not budget accommodation and I think getting the cleaning and cooking right will make this a must stay place!
