“Great quiet spot.”

My partner and I stayed in villa #1 for 3 nights. Great villa, the outside shower didnt work but the fantastic rain shower inside did, wow!
Bed was comfy, villa is spacious, lounges are squeaky!!!
Dont leave anything foodish on the bench overnight, little ants invaded our mugs.
Great quiet spot down the laneway, away from all the honking of the scooters.
The plunge pool was awesome, that is all you need to cool off, not a big huge overrated pool.
Across the main road from the laneway is Cafe Seminyak, great food. I ordered a bacon egg and lettuce bun......it wasnt on the menu.....i still got it! Bintang supermarket is next to the cafe, for all your comfy needs (like chocolate and $1.20AU pringles!!!)
Be carefull of the traffic, there is a crossing with a man and whistle to assist you across so you dont get run over, a little bit down from the cafe. Great dvd shops and nice clothes shops.
There is a little girl and her mum walking around who sell bracelets made from immitation leather, just buy a bundle for 50,000, make the little girls day. and blow her a kiss.
Downtown is nice, floors are polished to a slippery quality. Dont use more of anything than you dont need...tea bags, shampoo, toilet paper, water. Be nice to Indonesia xxxx Peace.

Room Tip: Villa #1, outside shower doesnt work, but it doesnt matter, because there is a shower inside right...

We have stayed at this location 4 times over the last three years. Centrally located in seminyak only a short walk to the main road for lunch dinner or shopping. Or a great location to pick up bemo or can to go to a restaurant or bar.

Their two bedroom villas are brilliant with separate lounge, dining and kitchen opening onto the large grassed area and 12m plunge pool. Upstairs, two generous bedroom with own balcony and large bathroom.

The staff are great and very helpful and make a great breakfast. Oh and it's owned by Ku De Ta so when you check in you get a discount card to use at KDT with 15% off your bill. Cool

Book it now. You'll love it.

Room Tip: Villa 8. Look behind the paintings and see what you will find

“Have stayed here 4 times and will keep coming back!”

Although a little expensive for a room in Bali, you definately get what you pay for! I have stayed in a 3 and 2 bedroom villa. Both are huge and both have big lap pools. The staff are friendly and helpful. I've never had a bad experience here. The villas are located right off the main road in seminyak but you can't hear a thing even when I'm the pool or sunbaking out the back. Close to great restaraunts, bars and seminyak beach. Kuta and the night life less then 10 mins by taxi

“Hasn't aged well...”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 16 November 2011

Having stayed at Downtown Villas a number of times about four years ago, and being very impressed with them, I was excited to return to enjoy their hospitality again a couple of weeks ago.

Well... it hasn't aged well, to say the least.

From being an amazing location, light and bright with exceptional service and maintenance, it's now, frankly, quite shabby. Obvious dirty marks on the walls - including a clear imprint of a childs' hand in the bedroom - were everywhere. The bathroom was quite grimy, and it felt like any cleaning that had been done prior to our arrival was somewhat... superficial.

Holes in the bedsheets, saggy mattress, landscaping untended, broken edging on the swimming pool, stained day bed and lounger cushions, poorly stocked toiletries (I know they're free, but I could have done with a sewing kit, not three shower caps and an emery board), ripped and dirty pages in the room directory...

These are small things, I know, and it may be pedantic of me to complain, but from what was frankly a first class location a few years ago, this is dramatic decline. I don't know if there has been a change of ownership but whatever the cause, it was a disappointment. The staff were quite helpful and friendly, but overall I think this may be my last visit to what was once one of my favourite places to stay in Bali. Bit sad, really.

“Fabulous location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 October 2011

I stayed at Downtown with 3 girlfriends for 8 nights and had a wonderful time. We had a two bedroom villa with the most amazing long lap pool which our lounge opened up onto. They only had queen/king beds in each bedroom, couldnt do twin beds and were only able to supply an extra single mattresses to put on the floor (as one didnt want to share bed). It wasn't ideal but worked out okay.

We were met at the airport but a lovely staff member, given a cool facetowel and bottle of water for the trip to the villa. The location is fantastic. Opposite Bintang supermarket and very close to fantastic restaurants and shops. Short taxi ride to the the more swanky restaurants in Seminyak like KuDeTa, La Lucciola, EVO etc. The only bad thing about the location is that it is a short distance off the main road and you have to walkdown a dirt pothole filled side road to get to the villa. There is no lighting at night. It didnt rain when we were there so it wasn't too bad, but come wet season, it would be much more of a hassle with the mud and holes.

The villa itself was very nice. Lounge, kitchen, dining and toilet downstairs, 2 bedrooms upstairs with shared bathtub inbetween the room - which also connected the two rooms. The main issue I had with the villa was the very slippery wooden floors, esp at the base of the stairs. All of us had near falls due to this. There is a large fridge and bottled water dispenser and the kitchen has basic utensils, crockery, cutlery etc. There isnt a microwave or toaster which would have been excellent, but there is a blender is the small bar area if you feel like making an blended cocktail or two!

The bathroom was okay. Very dark though with no natural light and insufficient lighting. The toiletries were not always replenished and the towels have seen better days.

The outdoor are and very large bale/daybed was a major plus. Big enough to fit 4 comfortably. There were also 3 daybeds. The accordian glass doors of the villa open up totally and the staff normally open then when they come to clean the rooms daily. It's gorgeous but lets all the mosquitos into the villa. When we requested the doors not to be open, the staff did not understand unfortunately. The villas are side by side and you can look down into next door villa's pool area, so not totally private. We also had a very noisy family stay next door for a couple of nights and it was painful.

The breakfasts were a bit of a letdown. They come and cook the eggs to your liking in the villa, but all the accompaniments like tomato, bacon, potato are all cold. The Indonesian breakfasts were not much better which was a shame. We opted to eat out on several occasions but if you are only there for a few days, it would be fine.

Overall, it was a nice place to stay. The location is its biggest plus. It is also nice and mostly quiet with good security. I would stay there again.
