“The absolute highlight of our honeymoon”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 July 2011

Gorah is not a hotel or a safari lodge, its an experience, one that will stay with my hubbie and I for a very long time. We stayed here for 4 nights at the beginning of our honeymoon and it ranks as the highlight of an amazing holiday. Where do I start?
Rooms/tents: super comfortable and sooo elegant, hard to believe 5* can be done in a tent, but they do it here! The lack of electricity makes it very romantic, a real Out of Africa moment! They're also surprising spacious, plenty of room for luggage and lovely toiletries

Food: the food here is out of this world, don't have room here to describe it fully, but if I had to say anything about it, it would be to be hungry when you arrive!!

Staff are wonderful, they went out of their way to make us comfortable and to make sure our game drives were enjoyable. We absolutely fell in love with the place, and soooo glad we booked it!!Can't wait to go again!

“We loved it and we d definitely like to go again”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 July 2011

Gorah was an experience to remember n treasure. Its quite different than our other safari trips. The place in itself is unique , But the team in this camp -under Ross their GM- does its best to make it all extraordinary. Gorah , unlike the other camps is run on solar power . generators are on only for a fixed time. despite that the Guest suites have al the amenities and comforts . The place is almost 200 years old and has retained most of its originality and all its history and glory comes charmingly alive at night. At night The whole lodge lights up with twinkling candles that brings its past glory n history shimmeringly alive. This coupled with the wilderness makes the whole experience otherworldly. The Team contrives to meet every need of the guest ,so the stay becomes comfortable while giving one a taste of the old world.

“A Life moment”

First time in South Africa and first time on safari, and I can't imagine a better place to be. This was up with the very best of my holiday experiences with an appealing combination of adventure, passion, relaxation, exhilaration, intimacy, decadence and isolation.

Expensive certainly, but three nights was the ideal time to enjoy all Gorah has to offer and well worth the outlay. On our five game drives we saw everything that we had hoped to see, expertly guided by Devon, a charming young South African guy who shared with us his at-one-ness with the animals. An extra-ordinary experience.

The 'tent' accommodation compared favourably to the most luxurious five star experience. Breakfast, lunch and dinner were thoughtfully prepared and with a limited choice, all executed to an exacting standard. Coming straight in to pre-dinner drinks after the evening drive, we were greeted with welcoming and warming gluhwein. A nice touch.

A thoroughly enjoyable experience away from your home reality.

“Best Camping trip ever”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 June 2011

I enjoyed camping in luxury, the food was excellent, the accomodations were great and I didn't have to leave my tent for the bathroom. Each am received tea and cookies. We saw many animals on my game drive with Megan the ranger she was very knowledgeable and went out of her way to make this stay part of the best vacation I have ever taken. We saw rare animals, springhare, ardwolf, spotted eagle owls. Saw lions, elephants and a hyena next to the vehicle. The watering hole makes this place as good as it gets some tents view the hole. At the lodge saw monkeys, elephants, hartebeest, ostrich, and warthogs and numerous birds. Great experience.

“One of the best experiences of my life!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 May 2011

I loved Gorah from the time I arrived! Everything was perfect and every little detail is taken care of. The food is superb, they have an excellent chef, real Relais & Châteaux quality.
The staff is great and make sure you enjoy every minute of your stay. Special thanks to William (restaurant), Lani and Suzanne (front office) and Gil (ranger). All of them are great people!
The safari is breathtaking! For people who love animals like me is perfect! I saw zebras, kudus, buffalos, elephants and much more!
I will sure never forget the lovely time I had!
