We stayed at The Westfield Inn on 12/26/11. This was our first stay and we were pleased to get a room when one became available. (When we called for a reservation earlier in the month, we were told the place was fully booked and added to a wait list. A room became available a few days later.) We're sorry to say that we will not be returning and we advise other travelers not to stay at this hotel unless location trumps everything and you are willing to overpay for accommodations to stay in Westfield.
We grew up in Union County and so are familiar with Westfield and surrounding towns. Westfield is a lovely town and this hotel is in a great location but the owners have a nerve to charge $149 for accommodations that haven't been updated in 25 years and to boast about a sunny breakfast room when the decor is circa 1980 and the food is meager and stale.
The wallpaper in the bathroom of the room in which we stayed was the same as what was in our house when we purchased it in 1987. The breakfast room is far from cheery and the first thing we saw as we entered the "lounge" door was a bowl of bananas covered with brown spots. The decor was dark and drab (chairs and rug from a 1980s-era banquet hall) and the food was awful (stale English muffins, reheated waffles, hard-boiled eggs and all serve-yourself).
