We arrived late in the day, after driving through New Jersey all day. We were tired and had taken a couple of wrong turns, so we were also agitated and frustrated. BUT, having the pleasure of having stayed at a Wingate earlier in the week in Savannah, GA, we were thrilled to see the sign for this facility at the end of an exhausting 8 hours behind the wheel. We checked in without a rez and the rate was fine. Rooms were comfortable and accommodating. Beds were excellent. Breakfast buffet and the hotel staff were very nice and we were on our way the next morning early. Wingate is a nice place to stay and when we're on the road again, we'll know what to look for when the sun starts heading below the horizon. "Tanks, Joisey!"

Nothing really wrong with the Wingate--comfortable beds, helpful staff--but the hotel is lacking in a few areas. They seem a bit behind in their maintenance and upkeep. Room had a broken lamp as well as another lamp that could only be plugged in if you unplugged the TV. Some repainting needed and was underway. Place on third floor labeled "Vending" had nothing in it but two armchairs. Also, no literature in room to describe hotel amenities or available local services--restaurants, etc. Free breakfast was not very good.

My girlfriend and I were looking for a nice location (close to her work) as a get away for the evening to celebrate our anniversary. A friend had recommended this hotel saying that although it had some poor reviews in the past, new owners and management were proactively transforming it into a great place to stay. It was just as he said. The staff was friendly and courteous. When checking into the room it became apparent that the airconditioning wasn't functioning properly. After calling the front desk, within a few minutes the Hotel Manager, Mr. Phil Sisco appeared at our door to investigate. Upon learning that it was our anniversary, he provided us with a much nicer upgrade and "saved the day". The accomodations were clean and the bed was comfortable. The non-chlorinated pool/hot tub is definitely forward thinking. Breakfast was complimentary and excellent considering that it was included. Thank you Phil for making our stay so memorable. Large, clean and quiet rooms. Friendly and helpful staff, hot breakfast was excellent. Ideally located near shopping, restaurants, etc. Family friendly. Will definitely always stay here when travelling to NJ.
