Location was the top reason for choosing this hotel, and we'll probably use it again, if only for the superb service; more on that later. That said, there were a few issues. We are older & asked for an accessible room which had advantages & some drawbacks. Everything is on wheelchair level. Hanger bar in closet, hooks on bathroom door--everything! Which is a bit hard on the able partner--or in this case both of us.
The shower was very well thought out & even though it looked like it might, it never overflowed into the bathroom; good engineering there.
The nightstand phone could not be coaxed to work even though we made sure it was plugged in. We were too tired to deal with it, but found later that it probably needed to be coordinated with the desk phone. Not something intuitively obvious.
The beds were extremely comfortable, with great pillow options.
Unfortunately, my husband & I had conflicting ideas on a comfortable heat level. I found out the next morning that, while I had gotten up twice to turn the heat down, he had done the same-- to turn it up. This resulted in some odd drafts, but I can't blame it on the hotel!
The place may be old, but seemed in very good trim when we arrived. Lobby beautifully decorated for Christmas, etc. We got in late but were given a nice meal in the area off the bar as the restaurant had closed by 9 on a Tuesday night. The menu was not large, but had plenty of choices for all ages & appetites. Two friends who had driven us into town, joined us for dinner & greatly enjoyed their burgers. One of the regular features of their bar menu is "milk & cookies", which tickled us enough to ask for some. By this time it was almost 10pm, and our server could not find any in the kitchen, however (!) he went to his cupboard & produced a big zip lock bag of home made chocolate chip cookies, made for him by a female acquaintance (girlfriend? auntie?). English was not his first language, so we never figured out the exact source, but they were very yummy!
Breakfast buffet was included in our room rate deal & it was sumptuous-an on hand cook to prepare eggs in any style, pastries, yogurt, dry cereal, oatmeal, fruits, etc., etc.
On the whole, we'd definitely stay there again.
