“Lots of Charachter!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 31 January 2012 via mobile

They advertise this hotel as being well over 100 years old. That becomes rather obvious after walking thru the huge, aged oak front doors.

You enter into a rather pedestrian lobby, but are welcomed by a very friendly staff. Creaky floors and slow elevator take you too your rooms. Fairly small rooms, but they are accessorized with all the latest acutrements. Decent bathrooms, kept in good shape.

Free breakfast supplied with a nice assortment of foods. Restaurant is very nice, and several nice places to eat within easy walking distance. Quaint early American town.

Not a modern place, but lots of character will bring me back.

Dear Cautious Traveler09,

Thank you so much for this glowing review of our property. We work very hard to get this type of response from our guests, and when we do it means a lot.

We feel the combination of the intimate feel of the hotel and the Summit address make our hotel the perfect choice when staying in the area.

We thank you again so much for your review and we hope to have the chance to host you again when your plans include a trip to Summit.

“Summit Hotel doesn't live up to expectations”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 November 2011

We were in town for Thanksgiving visiting family who recently moved to Summit, so we picked it for convenience. This hotel is listed as a member of the Summit Group of boutique hotels. There is nothing boutique about the hotel. I was expecting special linens, robes, plush towels and nice toiletries. The room and the amenties were very basic -- on par with budget chains. The rooms are in dire need of updating as are the hallways. Our hallway on the third floor had a strong odor.

We also had issues with room service on one night: I tried calling for over 20 minutes with no answer. I finally called the front desk and the clerk tracked down the restaurant manager who called back to take my order with no apology for the delay or no answer. I also found the service at the front desk hit or miss -- some clerks were very helpful, others were aloof. The bell staff were extremely helpful. The included breakfast each morning was nice consisting of eggs, bacon, sausage, hash browns, cereal, fruit, coffee, tea and a changing special.

Overall, I can't recommend this hotel and will recommend that visiting family stay else where.

Dear andrewebca,

Thank you so much for the feedback you provided to us both positive and negative. I was disappointed to hear that you did not find our hotel to be in the boutique category as many of our customers choose the hotel for exactly that reason.

While we are still completing the renovation in a portion of our rooms, all of our rooms already have a Sealy pillowtop mattress, flat-screen tv's, Bose CD radios and a fresh linen and towel product. In addition, some of our rooms include hardwood floor and tumbled-stone showers.

It is our goal to provide a comfortable stay for all of our guests and we work hard to ensure our standards meet with the Summit brand as part of the Preferred Hotel family. If a guest is unhappy with their stay, it is always helpful to communicate this to us during your stay so we can work to improve your experience while you are with us.

I hope that you will provide us with another chance to host you to show you all we have to offer here at The Grand Summit Hotel.

Thank you again for all of your feedback.

Sincerely,

Michael Marino

“Dream wedding!”

We held our wedding reception at the Grand Summit on 11/5/11. We were very pleased with the personal service and attention they gave to our event. Our guests are still raving about how great the food was and the wonderful time they had at our reception! The wait staff was attentive to our guests and the event ran very smoothly. Teresa in the event department was a pleasure to work with during planning. She took a personal interest in our event and ensured it was everything we had dreamed it would be. Julio (our banquet manager) and his staff executed everything we had discussed with Teresa flawlessly. We had several guests stay the night/weekend as well. The hotel staff was very accommodating and ensured we had a pleasant stay. We made the right choice for our reception venue for sure!

We were staying at the Grand Summit while we were shooting a TV series. It was such a pleasure to arrive at the hotel after a long day and enjoy the charming ambiance. The location was great...the city just a 2 minute walk. Michael Marino was very helpful and accommodating to us and our crew. We look forward to visiting again in the future..
