“Comfortable and Convenient”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 January 2011

We stayed here three times in two weeks. Flew into Newark late evening and needed someplace nearby until we took off driving to an event in NY the next day. Then stopped, twice more, before and after a planned side-trip to Atlantic City.

Handy luggage carts are in the vestibule, nice bar/restaurant across the lobby. We didn't eat there but had a few drinks. Nice enough.

Room was plain but clean and comfortable. Never noticed much noise from the highway or fellow guests. Good heater. Good Wi-fi. Two elevators.

Access from the divided highway, US-22, is easy from the east (Newark) but from the west you have to go past the place and find a U-turn. Not a big deal but be aware.

Plenty of parking, all of it wide out in the open, which I like -- discourages car break-ins, I think.

“necessary in a pinch”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 19 October 2010

Stayed here to attend a family member's funeral. The bed was itchy when I laid in it. The bed was way to soft for quality sleep. I read there was an indoor pool and hot tub. The hot tub was cold and indoor was a permanent bubble that was cold on the inside. The room was extremely spacious, so that gets a plus. with plenty of storage space. The bathroom was large, although sterile. The Breakfast buffet was serviceable. I did find the hotel employees nice and helpful.
I would only stay here in a pinch. Other than that, I would not choose or recommend this place.

“Stay somewhere else”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 23 September 2010

Got a room here after getting into Newark late and missing my connection. The Marriott on site at the airport was full and kindly offered to find me a room.

This place is filthy, outdated, worn and should be demolished. The only redeeming factor was free wifi that allowed me to find another hotel and check out early in the morning.

“#100 out of 1 in Springfield”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 21 June 2010

Don't bother staying here, drive to the next town to find a hotel. We had a family emergency and needed to get a hotel in a hurry, and the other local hotels were booked. If we had known what we were in for, we would have stayed several towns over to avoid this place. The only reason this place is #1 is because there are no others.

We checked in late on a Thursday and went straight to bed. The bed felt itchy that night, but we were tired. The next morning we saw the bed was dirty and the coverlet had a hunk of someone's hair on it. We asked the front desk to make sure the entire bed was changed, and (optimistically) we left a tip for the housekeeper. When we came back in the late afternoon, the front desk called our room and asked if the room was acceptable. We saw the coverlet still had hair on it. The housekeeping staff was dispatched to our room and the linens were changed.

After that night the bed was fine, but then the towels were a problem for the rest of the stay. One day we might get a washcloth for each of us, but not a hand towel. The front desk delivered towels to us when we complained, but were unable to satisfy us, and told us to see a manager the next day. Some kind of service right?

Other drawbacks to this hotel/ and our stay as follows:
We requested a fridge when we made our reservations to store medicine in. When we got to our room there was no fridge and one had to be brought up. (So it was not cold when we got there.) Over the next day we found out that the fridge could not be set to a reasonable temp, all of our stuff froze and we had to throw it out. (Luckily we had moved the medicine to a family members fridge.)
The bathroom is like your parents 1970’s bathroom, with pink 4X4 tile, with bad self-repairs where leaks occurred.
The furniture in the room is standard dorm room issue.
The towels, when you can get them, are old and rough, and often have someone else’s hair.
They do provide free breakfast, but it is substandard too.
Thanks to the free wi-fi I was able to write this review before I checked out.
FYI: This hotel is located on Rt 22, which is a busy, divided highway. It is noisy, and cut off from EVERYTHING else.
Take head and avoid this place.

“Loved how safe I felt and how clean it was”

I read all the reviews on this particular hotel before booking my trip and making hotel reservations here.
I have found that being in retail myself, Often people go out of their way to talk about/write about negative experiences and forget to post the good ones. I can honestly say I LOVED my stay at this hotel. It was a very clean and tidy hotel that was easy to navagate around. I liked that I was able to place free local calls within 5 mins of checking in. My room was very spacious and nicely decorated with amazing lighting and a giant bright window. The bathroom was extremly clean and this is something I am SO anal with. It had bright lighting, Giant Mirror, Clean working toilet, & great water pressure from the shower. I really like that they like to try and save on towels to do their part in protecting and preserving the environment and saving water.
My sleep was very comfortable and I felt very relaxed during my stay which was the whole point of my vacation. I would recommend this hotel to anyone who will be staying in this area. I was never hounded by hotel staff or bothered. I could come and go as I pleased without feeling like I had to answer to anyone. The ladies at the front desk were very helpful, friendly, and polite. The only thing I can say is that I wish our room had a fridge but the ice machine was around the corner from my room! So that was handy.
Def would stay here again. It was really not expensive for what I feel was great service. I didn't want to leave! Thank-you for such a great stay!
