“What a disappointment”

Ive spent two weeks across the street at Candlewood (awesome) but needed to extend my trip and when I rebid on priceline ended up here. Dirty halls, a random spare tire in the hallway, old school tv, no coffee, small cheap desk n chair, no closet-just an indented area, cheap lazy boy, the whole place has a super 8 kinda feel to it. One side note-the front desk guy was great-friendly and helpful-someone who owns a nicer hotel needs to hire him-forget his name-tall middle aged, slight possible East African accent. He was the one good thing about this place. If you have a choice go with candlewood somerset across the street-fresh baked cookies free Internet and laundry and coffee and nicer furnishings

This is definitely a welfare hotel. Stayed 3 weeks, Noisy at night! Frequent police activity.
Packed up and left.

“Is this a welfare hotel?”

My 1st impression upon Driving into the parking lot were"wow I think I got deal. Their is no "standing" room in front of the entrance for your car to unload baggage. The door is not automated. This is a problem when your hands are full of luggage. The lobby had a "funky smell" not bad but funky. I get to the room and the smell was mush worse, it "punched me in the face" I called down. No other rooms were ready so i was stuck. Carpet was stained and dirty. Their is a tiny 19 inch tv for your viewing pleasure. The. Furniture is 20 years old and looks it. Kitchen came equip with 2 forks, plates and 2bowls. Could they spare it! Bed was horrible, hard and stiff. Bedding was stiff and scratchy. Bath towels were rough and course. Wifi is SLOWWWWW and was an extra fee.! I have stayed in some flee bag hotels in my day but this is one of the worst to date. I paid 41.00 through Priceline total and felt ripped off.

“yes, smell is the problem”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 January 2010

agree with previous reviews. You get what you pay.
I usually got this hotel bidding from PL with price of about 6x% off regular PL price.

Room is OK.But the whole hotel has a kind of unpleasant smell which would stay on the clothes and hair. The first thing I do when arriving home from that hotel is always to wash my hair.

There is a 3* Staybridge nearby. These 2 hotels are about the same in cleanness. I often got the ESA $5 less than staybridge. But Staybridge offers breakfast.

Besides that , the staff is nice and warm. Still recommend this hotel if you only needs a OK place to stay overnight.

“Booked with Priceline, decided to travel home instead of staying”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 October 2009

OK - you get what you pay for.

The hotel was not sooooo bad, but there was a very strange smell that permeated the whole building - a mix of bleach, cigarette smoke.

The front desk staff was very nice and accomodating - we arrived an hour early and he made sure the room was available and clean. Also, apparently the default for Priceline was queen smoking, but he asked if we'd like to change the room to two beds NS when he saw we were with a child. (His customer service was impecable, and I hope he moves on to bigger and nicer locations!) However, the hotel dress code for staff is a little lacking and it kinda sets the tone. Other people in the lobby / behind the reception desk coming in and out, not sure if staff or visitors or what.

The hotel has seen better days. Elevator button was falling off wall, cracked tiles, peeling paint in places. But no garbage hanging around.

The room was clean - cleaner than I anticipated. The bedding was clean and the mattresses were better and newer than expected. Kitchen was clean (except for the spilled koolaid in the bottom of the fridge, hidden under the salad drawer) Bedding was recently new. Carpet and curtains, no so much.

For a budget traveller, this might be OK. I couldn't get past the smell. My husband couldn't get past the other patrons (he's law enforcement), so we didn't stay overnight and can't comment on the quietness or safety of the hotel. Nothing to do in the immediate area - it's sort of a office/warehouse/hotel area - but easy on and off the highway
