OK - you get what you pay for.
The hotel was not sooooo bad, but there was a very strange smell that permeated the whole building - a mix of bleach, cigarette smoke.
The front desk staff was very nice and accomodating - we arrived an hour early and he made sure the room was available and clean. Also, apparently the default for Priceline was queen smoking, but he asked if we'd like to change the room to two beds NS when he saw we were with a child. (His customer service was impecable, and I hope he moves on to bigger and nicer locations!) However, the hotel dress code for staff is a little lacking and it kinda sets the tone. Other people in the lobby / behind the reception desk coming in and out, not sure if staff or visitors or what.
The hotel has seen better days. Elevator button was falling off wall, cracked tiles, peeling paint in places. But no garbage hanging around.
The room was clean - cleaner than I anticipated. The bedding was clean and the mattresses were better and newer than expected. Kitchen was clean (except for the spilled koolaid in the bottom of the fridge, hidden under the salad drawer) Bedding was recently new. Carpet and curtains, no so much.
For a budget traveller, this might be OK. I couldn't get past the smell. My husband couldn't get past the other patrons (he's law enforcement), so we didn't stay overnight and can't comment on the quietness or safety of the hotel. Nothing to do in the immediate area - it's sort of a office/warehouse/hotel area - but easy on and off the highway
