“Never stay here again”

We stay here in 12-31-2011 to 01-04-2012 (was the onlyavailable for that date),I arrive at 7:30 p.m. because from the JFK to the hotels have many ,many traffic that day. when we go to room think that was a mistake to give us that 4 people room insted 5 room I reserved.in the caunter the man said that they don't "guarantee" the room when the client do the reservation. OK,then how you can accommodate 5 person in a room for 4,left one outside? they give us a rollway bed (very clouse to the floor and uncomfortable for a person of 70 years). I was very upset, and the room was dirty with garbage beside the bed and the foor of the bathroom never be clean. The only thing I like was the stores and exits to NYC,in the future I'm going to stay in other hotels I see in Secaucus, never in Hampton Inn.

“Great place to stay and visit NYC”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 January 2012

This is one of the best hotel located in a suitable place with the best communication option to NYC . There is NYC bus stop just in front of the hotel with regular frequency and at a very reasonable rate of 8 dollars round trip. Bus will take u to 42nd street. The breakfast is complementary and of good quality. The place is at a great shoping hub and u will get restaurants like chilis and chipotlee just opossite the hotel.

“Hampton Inn Secaucus - New Years Holiday 2011-12”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 January 2012

PROS: For us the price was the main consideration. There were just no affordable choices in Manhattan over the New Years holiday weekend. I had some reservations about basing our trip to NYC from NJ - but this hotel ended up being very convenient for our family of 5. The 320 bus stopped right across the street, and we never had to wait more than a few minutes for a bus - with the dedicated bus lanes we got into Port Authority Bus Terminal new Times Sq and Theater District within 15-20 mins with no traffic anytime that we went in. The breakfasts were pretty good, everyone could always find something that they wanted to eat. The breakfasts were a key reason that we picked this hotel, this saved us significant money. The other thing was the free parking. We didn't use the rental car much while we were there - but it ended up being cheaper than the two cabs that we would have had to take from LaGuardia to just rent the car for the week. The neighborhood couldn't have been more perfect. It was very nice, clean and safe. Lots of restaurants across the street and close stores like Walmart and Sams Club within walking distance. We never had any issues with being out late in the neighborhood and often got back to the hotel at around 1am. The hotel was obviously full during our stay, but the staff seemed to do a good job, even at the chaotic times like breakfast. There were often a shortage of tables, but they opened up a conference room with additional tables on the busiest days. We got down to breakfast a late one day and the staff were very accommodating, even getting us some items that they had already put away, the staff were always very friendly and helpful, on New Years Eve the NJ Transit offered additional service on the 320 route until about 5:30am - the last bus back was 1am normally, the refrigerator and microwave in the room were a very welcome feature

MINOR ISSUES: The heater in our room came on like a siren each time it would start up - we just started running the fan at night instead when we went to sleep, there were no pillows or blankets for the pull-out couch - they found us a couple of small pillows for the first night and we asked again the 2nd night and got a couple of regular pillows and a blanket, one reason that we chose the hotel was that it said that the room accommodated 5 people on the listing on hotels.com - however when I called I was told that assumed that we would have 3 people in the King bed and 2 on the pull out couch - I asked about a roll-away bed but was told that it would not fit in the room - we brought a blow-up twin mattress with us and used that for the 5th person, the sink would not drain the whole time that we were there and would fill up in less than a minute - we mentioned it a couple of times but it was never fixed, one of the elevators seemed to hit something each time it got to the 3rd floor and would lurch a bit - this was a little disconcerting, on a few of the days things were not replaced when the room was cleaned - towels shampoo cups

OVERALL: I would highly recommend this hotel for anyone looking for an affordable base to visit the NYC area. The hotel is basic, but clean and comfortable with everything that we needed for a trip that we basically just slept at the hotel and didn't need anything like pools or onsite restaurants. The staff were very friendly, helpful and accommodating. Thanks for helping to make our trip a memorable one!

“Great alternative to Manhattan!!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 January 2012

We stayed here close to NYE, and have nothing but great things to say!

Rooms: clean and spatious. Fridge and microwave. Wifi was good connection from iPhone. Beds were confy, maid service was great!

Location: best part of this hotel, near restaraunts and a Starbucks. Walking distance to Sam's Club and Walmart. 320 bus takes you straight to Port Authority at Times Square. Longest jouney was bout 25 minutes on Dec 30 (real busy), shortest trip was 10 minutes. Round trip cost was about $7.

Food: breakfast was good - eggs, toast, bagels, waffles, cereal, yogurt, fruit, juice, coffee... etc. Some days sausage, some days hashbrowns, it was changed up every day.

The only thing missing was a hot tub to relax in during the evening.

Directions: GPS took us right there. The complex is a bit to get right, make sure you look it up on Google maps before you go and you won't have any problems. Free parking made life easy.

Would definitely stay here again if I returned to New York!

TIP: Save some time by accessing the Statue of Liberty from Liberty State Park - no lineups for secuirty, and the ferry was relatively empty (compared to the ones that came from Manahttan Island). The park is about 20 minutes from the hotel by bar (or cab). Much better experience.

“Great value for New York holiday”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 January 2012

Inexpensive stay (prepaid $110 per night) with very direct access to Manhattan using the 320 bus ($7.90 roundtrip, driver makes change) to Port Authority at 40th and 8th. Room was clean and comfortable, excellent value with included breakfast - good selection, however there was no fruit salad on second day of three. Hotel was very busy (between Christmas and New Years), and breakfast area small, so ended up easting in our room. Helpful and friendly staff. Starbucks and selection of chain restaurants within walking distance.
