I stayed at the Ramada Rochelle Park in July. Although I live in NJ, approximately an hour from the hotel, I needed to be somewhere very early one Saturday morning and decided it would be best to spend the night close to the venue... especially since the rate was affordable (approximately $97, including taxes for a Friday night). The room had a refrigerator, which was perfect for me since I had brought my own food. The internet was free and I didn't experience any connectivity issues. The bathroom and the room were clean. I'm a germophobe and neat freak so I anticipated that it wasn't going to meet my expectations, but it honestly wasn't bad at all. In fact, when I arrived at my room, it smelled like cleaner (such as bleach)... but after a few minutes, I hardly noticed the smell anymore.

If you are on vacation and looking for something fancy, this wouldn't be the place as it lacks all the bells and whistles someone might expect from a "nice" hotel... but if you accept it for what it is (in my case: a clean place to "crash" for the night), then you won't be disappointed!

I am 22, and stayed here with my two younger sisters in early August. When checking in, the front desk representative would not accept my AAA card because it had my mom’s name on it. He threw the card at me and told me he could not accept it. When I tried to explain that I share the account with my mom, he interrupted me and would not let me speak. I offered to contact AAA, however he did not want to hear it. This was later resolved after spending time on the phone with AAA. After checking in, the representative hollered across the lobby “NO PARTIES! WE HAVE SECURITY” in front of a room full of people. This was not only rude, but embarrassing. I have NEVER experienced such discrimination because of my age, and have NEVER been yelled at and scolded when checking into a hotel.

Later, when I got into bed, I put my hand in something brown and sticky. I realized that it was human excrement. I was thoroughly disgusted. I took a picture, and called the desk for immediate help. I waited 45 minutes and nobody came to the room, so I went to the desk and pleaded for a new room or totally new bed sheets. A staff member came to the room and changed only the comforter, insisting that the brown stain was chocolate. He even talked to another staff member, and the two laughed at me for making them remove a dirty comforter when it was only “chocolate”. On top of other things—my keycard not working, sketchy guests who harassed my 20 year-old and 16 year-old sisters—HORRIBLE staff, DISGUSTING room, and MISERABLE sleep. I thought Ramada was a reputable brand, but I'll never stay with them again.

This hotel is an absolute dump! This hotel was selected for us by the couple who was getting married so we got the discounted rate which was 100 and soooo overpriced. However the hotel was terrible. When we checked in the front desk guy was rude and took forever to process a simple credit card. When we got into the room it was beyond hot! We cranked the a/c up to the max and left for the wedding. When we came back late that night we were shocked to find our room was still hot. The bathroom wasn't clean and the toilet you had to flush twice for it to go down. We complained to the front desk about both the toilet and a/c and he could have cared less. In a nutshell we would never return to this hotel unless we were stranded!

The good: Cheap. Close to the highway. Clean rooms, comfy beds, super comfy pillows. The bad: Looks really shady from the outside. The restaurant on the premises is closed and empty and looks like it's been that way for a while. Lots of noise from cars zooming past. We stayed on the 4th floor and a group of college kids on a tour stayed up until 3 am, walking through the halls, leaving junk around, and making noise. They kept us up, even after we called the front desk asking them if they could do something. Oh yeah... and the WIFI SUCKS! It was soo slow, it felt like dial-up. On top of that it dropped my connection every five minutes. Made it nearly impossible to get anything done online. The pool closes at 8 PM, so we missed swimming both nights. The breakfast was OK, typical continental, but they have some problems. There's waffles, but so many people wanted waffles on Sunday morning that the waffle making guy was giving out numbers. I took a number but never got called. And the tables seat ten... so you may very well end up having to sit with someone else, or not have a seat at all, which is awkward. The fitness center? Haha! They gutted a standard hotel room, installed floor to ceiling mirrors, and threw in four excersize machines. Kind of sad. Bottom line: this hotel is OK, clean at least... but definitely stay somewhere else if you can afford it or if you need good Wifi.
