My husband and I just returned from the worst weekend ever. We booked at this hotel because we were in town for a wedding at the shore. First when we checked in we were told our King room, which we reserved 4 months ago in a group block rate, was given to the previous guest as a courtesty since he extended his stay - so we were "upgraded" to a double room. After about 15 min of arguing with the front desk person, who claimed to be the general manager, she told us the room was a double but that it had double queens. In the middle of the argument the bride to be and groom happened to enter to drop off gift baskets for guests, and were understandably infuriated to find that all but one of their guests staying there received this "upgrade". Since we were running late to the rehearsal at this point we said fine and took the key for the "upgrade" double "queen" room. Upon entering to drop our stuff quickly we noticed the foul odor in the room but opened a window and left. When we returned 3 hours later the stench was still enough to gag us and we told the front desk who first wanted to spray neutra air in the room. I argued that it wouldn't cut it and they switched our room to another one down the hall, another "double queen". The "double queen" were actually double beds and my husband and I ended up sleeping in separate beds since they were so small. The room was absolutely disgusting. There was moldy open yogurt in the refrigerator, the coffee pot was moldy and had a spider in it, there was clumps of hair on the bathroom floor and in the sink, the recliner in the room had stains as if someone vomited on it and it was wiped (not cleaned) and we found three more spiders in the room before going to Target to buy sleeping bags to sleep in on top of the covers of the rock hard beds.
The next morning we again told the front desk who offered to move us to a "queen" room - and admitted the previous manager was wrong they were not double queens, they were double beds. She was polite and apologized. When we returned from breakfast we switched to the 3rd room, which had been upgraded a bit but the kitchen area was still dirty. The room still smelled terrible and the carpet from the outside wall to the bed was wet. Needless to say i did not remove my shoes the entire time i was in the room. The room doors and exit doors have no stops on them so from about 545am on all you hear is slamming doors. It was by far the worst hotel we have ever stayed at. We traveled Europe for 3 months, staying in youth hostels for $12/night that were CLEANER THAN THIS. GROSS!! It completely ruined the weekend away for us :(
