I just needed a place to crash for a night rather than driving 1 1/2 hours home and back to the area the next day for a meeting. My expectations was a clean place to watch TV for 1 night. Nothing special. I was HUGELY disappointed.
While making the reservation (the day prior to my travel), I accidently booked 2 nights- one of which was for the present day. The website wouldn't allow me to modify, so i immediatly called to cancel 1 of the nights. I was told that it would be handled when I arrived. When i expressed uncertainty around this, I was told that it would be fine. Unsure, I hung up the phone and let it go.
I arrived after work around 6p and was immediatly told that I would be charged for 2 nights since I didn't cancel the first one. $110 for this dump. While i was trying to explain the circumstances, a little girl came up next to me to ask the receptionist for toilet paper? She was jumping around while the receptionist was flipping through reservations, essentially ignoring her. I took it from that experience that people live at thos location. We netted out with the receptionist calling me a liar, and me losing my patience and just asking for my room key so i can begin my night of overpriced unwinding.
I got into the room and it was reasonably fine for what it was. I tried to turn on the TV though, and it had some sort of lock as though it was set up for payment? Not your ordinary hotel TV. The remote was broken, as were most of the lights in the room. The 1 light that certainly was working was the bathroom light revealing tons of rogue pubic hairs. Ick! I had brought my own toiletries as I had assumed that a low budget motel wouldn't have decent shampoos or conditioners, so i wasn't surprised there. The bed was reasonably comfortable, but thankfully my room had 2 beds, as the first bed had stains all over the sheets. No thanks.
I've been placed in the situation of having to stay in this area about once a week due to work demands. I have found another hotel, and I would rather drive 3 hours than stay here again.
The hotel boasted breakfast too, so the next morning, i figured for the amount i paid, i might as well get a cup of coffee and a quick bite. I walked into the 'lobby' to find a box of donuts. I couldn't even find cups for coffee, so i just left and stopped at dunkin donuts on my way to work. Lousy overall experience.
I'm not a huge complainer, but I'd rather sleep in my car...
