“Hyatt Place Princeton gets it Right!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 February 2012

When I think of Hyatt Place I typically consider it the weak limited service relative of the full service Hyatt Hotels. However Hyatt Princeton is proof that’s not always the case.
Yes they offer every room is a suite concept .However at the price of a 4 star guest guest room.As an elite top tier program member there isn’t much at the typical Hyatt Place to come to expect. There is no upgrade technically. However Hyatt Place Princeton goes the extra mile for their top tier customers including a nice extra welcome amenity and a pre blocked quiet room.

The downside at Hyatt Place is always an inferior breakfast. Though they score with presentation.Hyatt Place nationwide IMO continues to struggle with serving a quality breakfast. If you are accustomed to staying in upscale full service properties. If you are coming from Holiday Inn Express you will probably be highly satisfied.
If Hilton Garden Inn can do a nice enough breakfast why can’t a Hyatt concept brand known for food and beverage? Not a property issue but a brand issue. If microwaved eggs and freeze dried bacon prepared in a micowave are your thing you will be happy paying up for the hot breakfast.
Yogurt is in bowls sitting out uncovered.Generic Cereal comes out of plastic tubes that spill all over the floor.Pastry is poor.Boring breads.Meh..........This is not to say everything is bad but not one item of anything stands out.

However as any frequent traveler knows there are the exception properties where the team is excellent and makes up for any small short comings
I ended up at the Hyatt Place Princeton for business by default. The Westin Princeton was overpriced and the full service Hyatt Princeton apparently hasn’t had a renovation in many years(apparently soon to be in the works) so I booked the Hyatt Place Princeton.

My experience is whom you speak with on the phone is the experience of attitude and service you typically will receive when in house. At every point of contact the property prior to arrival was spot on.
My first in person point of contact was Irving he patiently offered whatever assistance he could. Upon arrival the welcome was all smiles and professionalism amongst the front desk staff. A quiet room had been blocked.
Irving isn’t a kid but an experienced seasoned hospitality professional that appears to like his industry and more importantly care about the customer/ guest experience.
He and his colleague Tim another hospitable standout offered their assistance throughout their shift at all times.

In the morning I had the pleasure of meeting yet another exceptional individual by the name of Kristin. Bright educated passionate about the others and the guest experience equally.
She was nice enough after I checked out to forward by mail a few clothing items I accidentally left behind in a timely manner. My sincere thanks if she sees this!

Its team members like this that makes it a pleasure to stay at any hotel.
The hotel apparently caters to business travelers and the owners are wise to have selected these team members at the property. I was comfortable and productive during my stay and the breakfast well its standard Hyatt Place fare. I’ll let you folks be the judge of that. I enjoyed my stay as much as the team members that are amongst the best of any Hyatt Place since the brand launched some years ago
Let’s hope the current team remain for a long time to come. You can’t go wrong here though like at all hotels experiences can and will vary. A solid experience all things considered with regard to my stay.Highly respectable choice for the region.

“Since the GM left, the hotel is not managed to Hyatt standards”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 19 December 2011

I have been staying at the property for 2 years and recently the GM left this property to work at another Hyatt property; to the detriment of this property for sure. Staff is pretty much the same and I will say for the most part - great bunch of people, except for the night auditor whom I had a very unsatisfactory experience with and who should never be dealing with the public. That is probably why she works nights - my guess. Either way she should leave guest relations to her co-workers.

Just general things I experienced were not at the same level as when John the old GM was around. Some of the food choices in the "24-7" bar was either not stocked up or just old food. I had a piece of cheesecake one night that was completely old and dried out - not the usual freshness I have experienced from the past visits.

Staff were unwilling to be helpful to guests, which I thought was unusual because in the past the staff would bend over backwards to make sure everything a guest needed was handled as soon as possible, etc, etc.

The bathroom was not as clean as usual. The shower head was very dirty and not really nice to look at. There were no amenities in the bathroom as there usually was, so not sure why that was either. They do utilize a dispenser in the shower which i think is very efficient but there was no body lotion in the bathroom.

“Perfect place when visiting son in college”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 December 2011

Sometimes it is nice to assume comfortably what to expect, and to be presented with even more. Updated amenities (great for media, etc.), great place to relax between college events, conveniently located near Westminster Choir College and Princeton U, as well as near a lively shopping area.

Would be happy to return.

Room Tip: Top (5th) floor was just fine for us, I usually prefer being on higher floors.

“Fantastic!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 November 2011

The location is great. You can walk to several restaurants, the movies, & the Market Fair mall. We love Hyatt Place because the suites are perfect for our family. The breakfast was lovely and everything was clean. I will definitely return!

Stayed here during soccer tournament for my daughter. Rooms are good size, but beds are not that great. Quiet. Also be prepared for Rt 1 terrible NJ traffic. Staff friendly, easy check in. Price reasonable
