“Nice Stay”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 February 2012

My wife surprised me with a recent stay here. First off, it is on a very busy road so it was a little difficult to turn left across traffic into the driveway... no biggie. Once we got in, we never had to see the car again until we left.
Check-in for the hotel is in the same waiting area for the restaurant so it was a little weird lugging our suitcases through the people waiting for tables.
We didn’t see an elevator. If you can’t take stairs, be sure to call and check on that before booking a room.
The room was very nice. The bed was huge and the flat screen was a good size and cable was not an issue. Bathroom was nice. Room was super-warm when we got there but the window opened so we could cool it down. Traffic noise was not an issue for us, but we were on the top floor and in the back.
We ate at the inn. I’m more of a NY steak house type of guy so I’m not really into the type of dining experience they offer, but it was fine. My wife really enjoyed her meal.
The breakfast wasn’t anything to write home about. I was fine with the muffin and juice but I ended up having to take my wife somewhere else to eat in the morning. I’m guessing they don’t have enough business to justify a cook in the morning.
The rooms are pretty pricey but I’m sure they are premium priced for being at the campus. Overall, if you are used to high-quality boutique hotels, you will be happy with this place.

“Lovely Dinner”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 21 January 2012

I did not stay in the peacock Inn (did not even realized I could) but went there for a buisness dinner. Last time I had been there was in 1996 and I was happy to see that the quality of the food was still as good as it was back then.
Since I was with a large group and reservations were made, I did not pay the bill and I just sort of 'followed the crowd' my experience might have been different than that from the single eater, or a couple that goes there, e.g. a group is always noisy so I vcabnnot say anything abt the noise level from outside nor wil one notice long waits as much in a cosy group.
Anyway, my experience is nothing but good. The food was excellent, the ambiance was great and the Inn is quite charming. I found it conveniently located, actually just a bit outside the Princeton center (but Princeton is not really big).
Might have been the best business dinner I had in Princeton

“Culinary pleasure”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 December 2011 via mobile

This was the second time I dined here, and was again impressed by the presentation and taste of the food.  The scallop apetizer was delicious, and the lobster main course exquisite. The lobster was presented shelled (it is so nice to not have to work for one's lobster) and served with a crayfish sauce on celery rave... The lobster was cooked perfectly (not over done) and the sauce perfectly supported this shellfish's delicate taste.  I should have resisted the chocolate cheesecake with caramel, but I didn't and it was excellent.  The wait staff is well trained, but perhaps lack the polish / discrete approach of well experienced waiters, but did a good job.  Overall an excellent place to dine (rather than simply eat) when in Princeton

I also stay here and find the rooms tastefully appointed and beds/ linens / towels very comfortable. An all around pleasant experence.

“Well appointed, convenient, and noisy”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 November 2011

This is a lovely 5-star hotel with great amenities, and a fantastic improvement over the other in-town lodging option in downtown Princeton (the Nassau Inn). Great linens; nice toiletries; tasteful if somewhat corporate bling-y decor. Brilliantly located...but the traffic on Bayard Lane/206 can be noisy, so if you're a light sleeper plan ahead.

“Great Location, but front desk service not so great.”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 November 2011

We decided to break a long drive to a wedding in NY with a day/evening in Princeton. We had never been to the campus so we wanted to be in walking distance and this hotel definitely delivered. Once we parked our car, we didn't use it again during our Princeton visit, which was definitely nice. The rooms have a cozy, snug feel and the bathroom was well-equipped. I liked the warm neutral tones used in the paint and linens--very soothing.

But, and there's a big but, we were far from pleased with the front desk service. The staff had accidentally booked two rooms under our name and instead of apologizing after we said it was their error and just moving on, the initial front desk person who greeted us when we first arrived didn't believe we booked just a single room and it was a hotel booking glitch (even though I had the email from a staff person from the hotel confirming ONE room). Unbelievably, when we returned later before dinner to get the key to our room, a new person a the front desk checked us in and still was confused/skeptical that we didn't want or book two rooms. At this point, we were frustrated and concerned about being charged and pressed until our name was deleted from the second reservation. After that sort of unpleasant exchange, the front desk person rolled their eyes when they learned we were dining down the street at Elements (which was excellent, by the way) instead of their restaurant.

Overall, the front desk's amatuerish and borderline rude approach really dampened my opinion of the place. I doubt I'd stay here again.
