“Super-friendly (by NJ standards!)”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 January 2012

My family of 4 stayed here for 5 nights between Christmas and New Year's. Everything was on par with other Embassy Suites experiences, although NJ law makes the manager's reception kind of a bummer (only one drink per person per day, obtained by coupon given at check-in) and the snacks were only basic (goldfish, pretzels, popcorn). Some Embassy Suites actually have hot items, but I'm thinking that is more the exception than the rule. Still, the room was very clean and everything worked (although the tub didn't drain well - we never bothered to report it since it wasn't that bad). The fitness center was also clean and crisp looking. Breakfast was thorough, as all Embassy Suites breakfasts are. A big step up from the "express" and "comfort" offerings (which I have no problem with). The staff were all pleasant and professional, especially the staff clearing the tables at breakfast. The omelet guy was a little gruff the first two mornings, but he warmed up the last few mornings. Actually a bit of a character more than anything. I grew up in NJ and this was a visit home (thus I feel qualified to make the super-friendly wisecrack). This will be our go-to hotel for all future trips "home" should visits continue to be like this one. Price paid was extremely fair for the area and an excellent value. Very convenient to I-287, thus US 1, NJ Turnpike, Rt 18 and Rutgers. We had several friends stop in to spend some time with us at the hotel, and they all commented on how nice the place was, especially the atrium. Still hate that Embassy charges extra for in-room wifi, but I express that displeasure to them in every post-stay survey. I can live with stopping at the business center on my way up and down to check email, etc. It was just fine to use, printed boarding passes no problem, that sort of thing. Thanks Embassy Piscataway for helping to make our long overdue vacation/trip home very comfortable and enjoyable!

“Better off sleeping on the street”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 17 December 2011

We booked our room 1 month in advance. Room was not ready @ 5 pm when we checked in, got a different room, ok. But that room was old and outdated. The hotel was dirty and dark. There was some sort of weirdo party going on throughout the hotel, men in dresses and make-up. These weirdos were walking all over the hotel all night drinking and yelling. When I called the front desk with concerns, the security knocked on my door @ 1am to tell me there was nothing that could be done as the partiers ignored his warnings. The 1 free drink and the breakfast was not the standard Embassy Suites, much, much worse. The desk lied to us about several things from why our room was not ready to blaming me for not CALLING THE HOTEL ahead of time to make sure the room was ready. I thought thats what the internet and my credit card payment was for. I would rather sleep in the street than ever stay there again.

Room Tip: Call another hotel

“Nice place to stay”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 December 2011

We stayed here for three nights in November...2 adults, 2 kids (infant and toddler). The hotel is nothing too fancy but it was very comfortable and a good experience. Our room was plenty large...the living area came in handy as a place for the kids to jump around after a long day. The included breakfast buffet is really quite great. There were eggs made to order, cereal, muffins, bagels, fruit, you name it. You could easily pay $20 at other hotels for a breakfast buffet of this size. Plus, the coffee was really good too. All in all, not too many frills or anything, but a comfortable stay.

“Older property, well maintained, friendly service”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 November 2011

Nice hotel, near Rutgers and convenient to I-287. The property is older but well maintained and the staff is helpful and accomodating. The rooms are standard Embassy Suites and were neat and clean. Parts of the room show their age...such as grout lines, but all ere clean and there was obviously an effort to keep the place up to date. Bedding was good. There is an indoor pool which this reviewer found to be a bit cool but the spa was perfect. The managers cocktail party was, as usual for Embassy Suites, a nice addition. Breakfast was solidly good.

“Does the Job Well Enough”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 November 2011

I tend not to stay in Embassy Suites, but we spent 2 nights here with a dog in a pet friendly room ($100 "cleaning fee" tacked on to the fee -- annoying!) because we had no electricity at home due to a strange Halloween snow storm that affected much of North Jersey. The room was spacious and comfortable, I found the atrium decor to be a bit cheesy, but the made to order egg white omelette and fresh coffee was perfectly pleasant. It was nice to have a bit of extra room, and the place is pleasant. If you find yourself in Piscataway, this is a decent place to spend the night.

Room Tip: If you bring your dog (we had to), expect to pay an extra hundred bucks for the privilege.
