“Drunks at the Wellesley Inn”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 September 2007

This was the WORST experience ever. The place is dirty and disgusting. The halls smell like urine. There were drunks wandering the halls from the time we arrived (9pm) until at least 3am. Many unsavory characters hanging out in the parking lot all night. There were multiple parties with yelling and banging going on until 3am. I was honestly scared that either my room or my car would be broken into that night.

The phone was disconnected, and the non-smoking room wreaked of smoke with burn marks throughout the room. The pool area was loaded with trash and used mattresses/furniture.

I can not believe this is a national brand hotel, part of La Quinta. The 'free breakfast' consisted of coffee and stale bread that you could toast in a toaster that was placed 40 feet away (and had never been cleaned).

“This should not be a 3 star”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 15 August 2007

The room I was placed in had a 12 in hole behind the door, cigarette burns in the comforter, stains all over the floor carpet, the sofa was so dirty that it looked like it had survived a 50 year battle with spills. There were numerous places on the wall where someone had used plaster to cover up past holes. The front desk tried to claim that they had accidently placed us in a room that was being renovated but I just couldn't see that. I told them I wanted a refund and had to stay elsewhere. This property should be closed for health and safety violations--I'm sure an inspector could find some reason why they should be closed if you saw the condition of the room and its furniture. I have never been in such a terrible establishment.

“Disgustingly dirty and pitiful”

Wellesley Inn and Suites Carneys Point, Penn s Grove, New Jersey: Totally disfusting and pitiful.

Firtst when I checked in, the room that I was suppose to get was not cleaned, it was in the smoking area, and no one was around to give an account as to why this happened. Anyway, because they were told that I am asthmatic, I was given another room on a different section of the building. The room, bathroom, bed, and furniture were all filthy looking and the sofa was nastily stained. The front dest attendants had an attitude when asked about the coffe maker and the iron that's listed on the website to be included in the room.

My stay was horrible. It is a good thing that I always travel with a bottle of lysol and my own bed linens when checking into a hotel. If I had not taken them with me, I would have to leave before time.

The inside of the building is very dirty, to include the passages and the lobby. I did not have the guts to eat there, so I waited until I checked out before getting something to eat. I was in such a hurry to get out of there to escape the smell of cigarrett that the workers create right at the entrance to the lobby. I think that workers and managers need to be inserviced on hotel hospitality. They were all ineffecient and unpolite.

I wish that no one looking for a good stay at a hotel will make the same mistake I did. It is better to pay $80 to $100 and get good hospitality and service than to try and cut short on cash and ended up felling disgusted and sorry.

“Worst Stay Ever”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 March 2007

Wellesley Inn & Suites, Carneys Point (Pennsgrove) NJ
Date(s): January 2007 to March 2007
Traveler: Newlyweds from NJ
This hotel was pitiful. My husband and I were building a home, which was not finished yet, so instead of bugging my parents, we checked into the Wellesley for the time being. As far as the outside, the hotel looks decent. Once inside, the lobby looks very nice. The problem, however, began in the room. We found out later that the section we were in, was supposed to be prohibited. They had a newer part of the hotel, but because we needed a king size bed, they booked us in the prohibited area. As far as the room is concerned, the wallpaper was peeling and it appeared as if water had previously leaked from the upstairs bathroom. My husband and I surmised this based on the condition of the wallpaper (bubbles, cracked) and the rust prevalent on the smoke detector attached to the wall. My husband suffered from some type of allergies while we were there; sneezing, coughing, etc., which was not normal during the winter season. The shower curtain was filthy, so I threw it out in the hallway in anger. The pool was closed, and the restaurant boarded up. The assistant manager and staff were friendly, but more than once I went to the front desk and no one was there. I yelled "hello" and could not figure out why the desk was abandoned so many times. One night the electric went out four at least 3-4 hours, and my husband and I sat in the dark. I anticipated some sort of discount due to our extended stay and the one night we were without electricity, but to no avail. The rate was the cheapest in the area, and since we were low on funds due to the building of our home, we were desperate and stayed.

  • Disliked — room quality was poor/old, refrigerator busted up with dents

“Horrible..Dirty...Disguisting”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 August 2006

This Hotel was an absolute nightmare. Please find my experience below:

We booked this hotel online for what we thought would be a great 3 night stay. However, when driving up to the hotel, we noticed that there were several unsupervised teenagers smoking and walking around aimlessly. Not a big deal right - Wrong!!!! There were nothing but tons of teenagers at this hotel.

The facility(external) was very outdated, old, and decrepit. When I arrived to the front desk to check in..1.) the staff was very unprofessional. However, we proceeded to check in. Our room was in the back, you had to drive there in order to get there. My husband went into the room first to check it out. He came out of the hotel and stated, "Well, we don't have to worry about the dog messing this one up!"(We were traveling with our dog!)

The family went into the hotel room and witnessed the following:
Soiled/Stained Carpet
Room smelled like urine
Wallpaper being held up with staples
Holes in Walls
Splats of plaster on wall
Holes in Sheets and Blankets
Cigarette Stains all over nightstand, etc....
Restroom unpleasant

We decided that since we were tired we would stay one night, but sleep with our clothes on and not bring in our luggage.

However, we contacted our reservation site to inform them that the living conditions were unbearable/unsanitary and we needed to find other accommodations for the other 2 nights.

Unbelievably, while my husband was on the phone with online reservations, here comes a COCKROACH walking across the floor as if he owned the place. At that moment, we got up...walked out and checked out of the hotel Immediately.

We stayed at the hotel a total of 5-10 minutes...

The Hotel manager cancelled the hotel reservations and did not ask one question. We also had the manager get online with our reservation booking company to ensure we would not get billed for anything.

I do not recommend. This place is a disaster and a nightmare. Not conducive for anyone and Do Not take your children. No one should ever have to live like that.

Don't Waste Your Money.
