This hotel was pitiful. My husband and I were building a home, which was not finished yet, so instead of bugging my parents, we checked into the Wellesley for the time being. As far as the outside, the hotel looks decent. Once inside, the lobby looks very nice. The problem, however, began in the room. We found out later that the section we were in, was supposed to be prohibited. They had a newer part of the hotel, but because we needed a king size bed, they booked us in the prohibited area. As far as the room is concerned, the wallpaper was peeling and it appeared as if water had previously leaked from the upstairs bathroom. My husband and I surmised this based on the condition of the wallpaper (bubbles, cracked) and the rust prevalent on the smoke detector attached to the wall. My husband suffered from some type of allergies while we were there; sneezing, coughing, etc., which was not normal during the winter season. The shower curtain was filthy, so I threw it out in the hallway in anger. The pool was closed, and the restaurant boarded up. The assistant manager and staff were friendly, but more than once I went to the front desk and no one was there. I yelled "hello" and could not figure out why the desk was abandoned so many times. One night the electric went out four at least 3-4 hours, and my husband and I sat in the dark. I anticipated some sort of discount due to our extended stay and the one night we were without electricity, but to no avail. The rate was the cheapest in the area, and since we were low on funds due to the building of our home, we were desperate and stayed.
