Lovely, helpful service. Clean, neat inn. A little older decor but an excellent value.

We had a very nice basement apartment room with refrigerator, microwave.and a separate entrance. The hotel is oceanfront and although we could not see the ocean from our room, it was terrific being able to come and go privately and the room was comfortable and large, although, you can hear nightly coming and goings above your head, so this is something to think about if that's not your thing. The staff was very friendly and welcoming. The hotel accomodates a later stay after 11 am checkout which gave us an extra day. The view from the porches was very disappointing as they have a bar above the porch rail, so the only way you can see the ocean was to look for it and move yourself so you can see it between these two bars or stand. In addition, if you are looking for a breakfast meal, this is not the place, as they only offer coffee, tea and very mini pastries, Overall, though, I would still recommend this hotel for it's excellent location (directly across the street from the ocean and a short walk from the town's center), comfortable, clean rooms and friendly staff. One extra, they offer chalk for children to draw on the sidewalk, which the kids loved.

Ocean Grove NJ has many hotels and many of them are heavy on Victoriana period decoration. The Ocean Vista is not one of them. The hotel is simple, uncluttered, and comfortable. The staff and owners are friendly and down-to-earth, including their dog, Roscoe. The hotel faces the beach, and what morning views you get from the porches! The coffee is good, so take your mug to one of the three porches and watch the waves. This time we stayed in a suite - two rooms with a bathroom and a refrigerator - perfect for parents & two teenagers. Partway through our stay, we moved to another suite. The staff moved all our suitcases & bags for us, so when we returned from the beach, everything was ready for us to unpack. One of the days was rainy, so I hid out in the comfortable 4th floor library and read for hours. The parlor is also comfortable if you feel more like mixing with other guests & staff. Great value, great location.

We have been coming to the Ocean Vista ever since their second summer of operation, and even if we only manage one weekend, we can't imagine a summer without a stay there. Warm, welcoming, and friendly, the Vista owners and staff are just the greatest. Pete and Diane have put so much love and care into this hotel. But the magic of it is that it balances being a Victorian-styled B&B with being a beach house. A little sand on the floor is not going to give anyone a heart attack, and that casual approach keeps it from being intimidating. The rooms and beds are comfortable and airy, and the hotel is clean and neat as a pin, thanks to the hardworking day crew. There are porches to sit on to drink your morning tea or coffee, libraries to read a book, puzzles for those rainy days, and no TV, except the one in the lobby which is very small. We love that; after all, as Diane says, if you want to watch TV why are you coming to the beach? There is AC, which is very welcome on days such as those 100' scorchers of last week. Be sure to buy your beach passes from their desk as they are cheaper than at the beach itself. Most rooms have private bath, but the shared bath is easy and immaculate and should not deter you from trying this special gem on the shore.
