The location is super, right behind the boardwalk. We stayed there for a short family weekend vacation. The rooms did not smell fresh/clean, had a masked cover-up odor. One room had dried up vomit in one of the trash cans, blood stains on the sheet of one of the beds and the bathroom/vanity faucet covers were filthy (poor cleaning habits, it really could be easily cleaned), this should have been noticed by the cleaning staff before the guests check in and have to bring it to the attention of the front desk. The comforters smelled dirty, etc. the pillows only had the pillow cases, no pillow covers underneath (you smell the odors of everyone who used them before you got there), the mattresses only had a very thin flat cover on top, the whole set up was very unsanitary. The quality of housekeeping service, etc., did not match the cost of the stay. Also, the lady at the front desk was not so accommodating, RUDE.

This hotel is perfect for people who are looking to spend their time, well, NOT in a hotel!

I stayed here two years in a row, and both years we were able to check in early Saturday morning, get a parking pass (the hotel lot is free for guests), and start enjoying the boardwalk. Though the room wan't ready until check-in time, the front desk women offered to take our phone number and call when it was ready so that we could go to breakfast and the beach.

The room is older but certainly clean; no frills but who cares - I was there for the location! The hotel is just off the beach, right next to Mack n' Manco's and at the hut where you buy beach tags.

Other helpful amenities:
- big pool with lounge chairs and tables for when you want a break from the beach.
- two really nice, big changing rooms located by the pool, each with a toilet, sink, and shower. This was GREAT for check-out day, if you want to hang out at the beach/pool after you've checked out of the room.
- ice machine for filling your coolers

Locoation, location, location, that what Harris House Motel is all about.Wich is not bad. But the room are small and outdated, For us, 2 adults and 3 young kids aged 3,7 and 11, its just too small. Double beds ? nowaday queen is the morn... for 2 adults and 2 young kids ,its OK. Thank you.

This review is long overdue as we stayed at the Harris House Motel for two nights at the end of July 2010.

Having never been to Ocean City, I did lots of research as to location and cleanliness of hotels here on Trip advisor before making our decision to stay here.

When I made the reservation, the woman was extremely helpful, friendly and answered lots of questions . I advised I did not want a poolside room and she was able to accommodate our request. We stayed on the Ocean Avenue side and it was nice & quiet aside from the usual cars going by.

As previous reviewers stated, our room was impeccably clean. Keep in mind these are older motels and the decor is certainly not the Hilton, however, I found it to be pleasantly decorated. The bathroom is on the smaller side but it was not an issue. The only thing I disliked was the strong smell of room freshner upon entering our room -- easily taken care of by keeping the door open for a few minutes to air out.

Overall, this motel exceeded my expectations. The location was unbeatable for the price. So close to the boardwalk and convenient for our beach day. I would not hesitate to stay again and look forward to doing so. I recommended Harris House to my neighbor and she stayed there recently with her daughter and grandchildren and loved it! You will too!
