“Great stay at the Luray Manor!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 September 2007

Years ago I stayed at the Luray Manor with a group and loved it. After searching in vain for a reasonably priced OC hotel for Labor Day weekend in vain I browsed tripadvisor. There I saw the Manor and remembered what a nice place it was, so I called them up and booked directly. We stayed there for 3 nights on the busiest weekend of the year for what it would have cost for one night at another hotel. The stay was great. As other reviewers have mentioned you can choose rooms with private or shared bathrooms. I believe each floor only has 2 rooms that might share the hall bathroom so it's really just up to personal preference. The ambiance is friendly and extremely helpful - it's a family run business and their guests are loyal. As for specifics - it's about 3 full blocks from the actual beachfront which isn't a killer walk, but not next door, either. There is no elevator at the location and all rooms are upstairs so those with elderly or disabled persons in your group be aware. All rooms have air conditioners and a mini- fridge which we found very handy. It's an older locale and the decorations are slightly dated but everything is very clean. We were able to park for free on the street right next to the hotel. The owners are wonderful and encouraged us to come back and use their showers after our day at the beach even though we'd checked out in the morning. The hotel motto is "Comfort without extravagance". We found that to be very true and for the price and location could not have had a better deal. We'll come again!

“Home Away From Home”

Today we returned from our second stay at Luray. I now feel like as though this is my home away from home. It was a wonderful feeling to climb those stairs again and return to the porch. It was also difficult to leave, as the owners are so friendly. They make you feel as though you're part of the family.

The fact that the Luray is an old house brings a sense of coziness and charm that newer places can't begin to give. Watching TV in the evenings with other visitors is nice, also.

There are several types of rooms available, including two connecting rooms, which is ideal for a family. Bathrooms are plentiful, both as private baths and hallway baths.

We've stayed in many hotels up and down the east coast, and I don't believe we've ever stayed in a place as clean as the Luray. On both of our stays we have found it to be spotless, which is something we very much appreciate.

I look forward to our next trip there, which will be soon, because their rates just can't be beat. The Luray Manor is undoubtedly the best kept "secret" in Ocean City.

we stayed here on a church retreat in october of 06'. I am now taking my family down two times this summer b/c the price is so affordable and the location to the beach and shops was perfect. We will come back again and again. The rooms were clean and provided the needs for our stay.

  • Liked — affordable and room for everyone
  • Disliked — no place to eat inside if it is cold or rainy out

“Best for the $ in OC !! w/o question”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 23 June 2006

Clean and very affordable... almost impossible to find a cheaper place and this one is managed very well by an older couple that takes care of you. Typical older building in OC w/a few hints like old door knobs, slightly sagging floors, and main door if you notice that sort of thing. Otherwise its a basic place that's kept up well and is maybe four blocks from the boadwalk near the north/Wonderland end. AC unit looked brand new and cooled down my small room (for one person) in seconds. You can save more $ like I did and just get the room and use a hallway bathroom. The place was not full and I don't remember ever seeing anyone else in them during the two days I stayed there. No tv except in the comfy living room. Don't know about other rooms though. I did have a dorm size fridge in mine. I had room # 6 which was nice bc it was at the end of the hall and not only was there no one walking past ever but the side window is facing the ocean (though there isn't a view of it) and the sea breezes shoot right in..... ahhhhh. If you like quiet, and are happy w/the basics, then def. stay here!
