Others said this Motel was dirty? Were they staying at the Trade Winds? In Ocean City New Jersey? While this Motel is 50 years old or so. I do not believe it shows it's age. There are about 6 of these Motels all built about the same time by the same builder. The rooms are NOT large. But, the one thing they are is clean. I was amazed that someone wrote that the Trade Winds was NOT clean. It is clean. They must have been confused? Maybe they were mad because It costs money to stay on 9th street 2 blocks from the boards. Maybe they were expecting lavish accomadations? C'mon this is all about location! You are in the middle of the boards 2 short blocks from the boards and, the beach. Of course the parking is tight. Of course the rooms are not large. But, You are there 9th and, close! Some peoples expectations are,... well,... wierd,... Oh, my goodness There is sand on the walk way. Yeah, everyone just walked back from the beach! You are at the beach! There is supposed to be sand! Trade Winds is a great beach motel. And, they have very competitive prices. Remember, they only have 3 maybe 4 month season. We will stay here again and, again. Great Place! 100% OCNJ

This motel is very old, which I have no problem with but it also appeared dirty. My husband and I stayed a few nights and this was by far the worst place we have ever been. I so wish I would have spent a little more money for something cleaner and nicer. Among other things, there were stains on the carpet, old lime and scale covered bathroom fixtures, a permanent dirty ring in the toilet, black MOLD and MILDEW growing on shower tiles, and the room had a terrible musty smell that only got worse when the breaker blew in the middle of the night causing the A/C to shut off !!! All the doors were painted white which was big mistake because you can see the years of grime and dirt all around the knobs and edges!!
The furniture was terribly worn and the paint was actually chipped from the walls in places.
I did not have high expectations considering the lower rate and location, but this motel was terrible!!!! Take your chances and stay somewhere else because it could not get much worse than the Tradewinds Motel!!!

I've stayed at this hotel for about 20 years and it is the second owner - he and his wife are lovely people and have fit us in for last minute stays several times - btthis is a very competive town with fancier hotels if you want to spend a fortune---this place is tha same as it was years ago with a small pool -nice folks and the best little diner right by the parking lot- the Beach Club Grill.
I may call and stay again this month (Oct>) and won't stay anywhere else- Don't expect the Ritz- it's the way OC used to be.

I stayed at the Traderwinds last year with my Mother, sisters, neices, and nephews. We had two rooms. The location is great. Not far off the boardwalk and right in the center of town. Check in was fast and they have ample parking behind the hotel which was nice, did not have to worry about parking. The rooms were of typical size with 2 dbl beds, cable tv, refrigiator, table with two chairs. All rooms overlook the pool. Would stay there around...And, we went at peak season and there rates were very reasonable.
