Spend more money and stay elsewhere. I stayed here with my husband July 29–31, 2011. The best thing about this hotel is how it looks from the curb—it all went downhill from there. We are in our late twenties and are very accustomed to staying in beach towns in simple rooms. But this was a dump. I’m not sure if we were given the worst room there or what. The room was so outdated and everything was stained. (See our picture of the chair, for example.) We wore our flip-flops the whole time in the room (stained carpet) and in the shower (very old). The bathroom has pink and blue fixtures, all circa 1970, with some cracks in the tile. We fiddled with it forever and couldn’t get any hot water in the shower—really frustrating. (There’s no tub FYI, not that you’d want to use it.) Basically every piece of furniture needed to be replaced. The carpet also needed replacing (stained, some rips) and there’s no molding at the bottom of the walls to cover the edges of the carpet, so it looks cheap and unfinished. The beds were horrible—only full-sized and very, very old (stained, caved-in box spring); my husband woke up one morning at 5:30 and couldn’t get back to sleep. The room had a mini-fridge and TV; no coffeepot or clock. Pros: The location was good (5–10 min walk to beach) and it looks nice from the curb. The pool looked small but clean (we didn’t go in). The sheets were clean and the room did not smell funky. The AC was off when we came in so the room was very hot; however, the room was really small and the AC was newish, so it cooled down quickly. All in all, the room had a dungeon-like atmosphere (AC takes up one window) and is in need of a full gut renovation. If I had a child I think I would’ve turned right around and walked out. Since it’s just us, we made the most of it, but it kind of turned us off to the whole NJ shore. For the money, I’d much rather stay one night at a better hotel than two nights here. We were very disappointed.
