“Very nice B&B”

Can't understand the negative reviews, I have stayed at The Koo-Koos Nest several times since 2001 and have not had a bad experience. The owners, Tom and Anna, are very good hosts. They are 'laid back' in an informal atmoshpere, but that's what the shore is supposed to be like.

The rooms have a real 'homey' feel, are nice size, very clean and well cared for. The maid service was daily and she was very nice. The lobby area can't really be called a lobby, more like a comfortable living room, part of the atmosphere. There is a very nice porch to relax on between times on the beach and boardwalk. It is just a short walk to the beach / boardwalk or to Asbury Avenue (main shopping street) and since 6th Street is the start of shops and stuff on both the B&B is very convienient.

Breakfasts were very good, Anna cooks and Tom serves, always varied and delicious. The coffee was fantastic ! Nothing like a good breakfast, on a porch with the morning breeze, chatting with Tom.

BTW their dog's name is Koo-Koo :)

“The name says it all - beware!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 August 2007

I had to laugh as I read these reviews as they are soo true! I am writing this review a year after our stay, but I remember it accurately as a wacky one. When we arrived, no one was there, but our name and key were on the door. The room was okay for the price. The building is beautiful but in need of much fixing up. I went looking for somebody in order to get our beach tags. The office is behind a huge door that looks like a bank vault, so you can't really knock as it is thick steel. Finally, a little girl came out and a dog and they went to get Anna. She was friendly during our stay, but just a bit out there and was always wearing a bikini (not a negative according to my husband). I paid her the balance in cash and went on my way, but nothing felt very inviting in the house and a lot of people seemed to be hanging out there besides the guests. The breakfast was very sparse and once it runs out there is nothing else, so you must get there early! We pulled the hot tub cover off to get in and it was very musty smelling. Yuck! Then when we left Anna came out asking if I had paid her. I said yes and she did believe me without a problem, but must not have much in the way of a bookkeeping system! I would not stay there again.

“Bed and maybe breakfast”

Koo Koo's nest is a very appropriate name for this B&B. Anna was our hostess...what a joke! She is extremely outthere and not very hospitable, she gives a bad name to bed and breakfast. My boyfriend and I spent 4 days there. We only saw Anna when we arrived and before we left when we had to settle the bill. Tuesday we had a decent breakfast, Wednesday no one showed up to serve breakfast (no reason given) and on Thursday they served chocolate cake, chocolate covered dougnuts and peach cobbler, dessert for breakfast!!! What a joke, but no one was laughing. Fridays breakfast was only fair. When we arrived we were given two towels and that was it for the whole 4 days we where there. No daily maid service, no ice tea or lemonade at 3pm, nothing that was listed in the web site was provide. The hot tub was disgusting, for health reasons it's best to avoid going in. I would not recommend going to the KOO KOO'S NEST. The service was beyond poor. I'm sure there must be wonderful B&B's in Ocean City unfortunately this is not one. It's the first vacation I went on that I was happy leaving. So far warning: BEWARE OF ANNA AND THE KOO KOO'S NEST!

“The owners really are Koo Koo”

I had to add my review when I saw so many others had a bad experience like we did. I thought maybe it was just us. Apparently not. We arrived to an empty B&B, and had no idea what to do. So we waited and waited, no owners. 4 hours later (with a toddler in tow) we drove around and found a different place. My husband left a message on their answering machine. They called us the NEXT DAY and told us to come back and stay for an extra couple of nights free. So, at the end of our stay at the alternate B&B we had found, we headed over to the Koo Koos nest.

When we arrived, they explained they had been out of town and a relative was supposed to have let us in and give us our key. Anna (ownder) came to the lobby in underpants and a sports bra , by the way, to talk to us and offer a pale apology for our inconvenience. Very bizarre. We also saw her bring out a barber's chair several times and do haircuts for people (apparently the lobby serves as her beauty salon, too.)

The owners also had a screaming, horrible fight in the parking lot during our stay. Many more bizarre interactions with the owners, too... but just suffice it to say that I agree with the other reviewers that these people are, indeed, Koo Koo. Do not waste your money.

“Loved going Koo Koo”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 June 2007

My mother & I stayed at this lovely B&B in Ocean City, NJ during the off season. We opted for the 2 room Rainforest Suite... so we could have some space. We both had a great time here. This was our first time staying at a B&B... so were where looking for something offbeat & we found it. Our Host, Anna was amazing... she was always there whenever we needed her. The rooms were a great size.... The beds were cozy.... The breakfast was to die for... & The location was amazing (close enough to walk to the beach, yet far enough to not be disturbed). Yes, as stated before with others, I did have to send a check as a deposit. And Anna wasn't there when we arrived & she left the keys for us. But who cares.... If I didn't want a laid back type place I would have booked a hotel room instead. I have no complaints & the stay was worth every penny.
