“Great Value - Great Location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 July 2009

This place is a great value. It's not fancy but it's clean and close to the beach and boardwalk with beach tags and a hostess who is friendly and helpful. Personally, I've arrived at a lot of B and Bs to find the owners not there, but keys waiting. I think that's par for the course and we've been happy to just let ourselves in and hit the beach. Plus, I love the porch swing and great breakfast -- oh, and the hottub! Where else can you stay for $100 right near the beach and get a hot tub. So what if the showers are tiny? That's not why I'm in O.C.

“Best value in O.C.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 February 2009

All I can say is thank god that the people that wrote the negative reviews on this site are not your typical Koo-Koo's nest guests. You see this B&B caters to families and couples on a very down to earth and laid back level. The people that stay at The Koo-Koo's nest return over and over again because it is what it is. Just a great place with cozy rooms and big delicious breakfasts. Close to the beach and boards it also has lots of space around the Inn to relax. Always quiet even with all the families with kids. Everyone goes about there business. Nobody up your butt. We've made many friendships with other guests over the years. They have a very loyal clientele. We've been going there since they opened in 1999. I think that most of the regular people that go to The Koo-Koo's nest would laugh if they every saw some of the negative reviews on this site. All I can say is I have been staying there for nine years now , every single year for a week with my kids and we would not trade if for anything. Let the negative reviewers stay away. Leave this unique B&B for the folks who can truly appreciate The Nest.

“Nothing Crazy about The Koo-Koo's Nest”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 26 August 2008

This is a great laid back Bed and Breakfast! The rooms were clean and had great air conditioners, refrigerators, and cable tv. The Breakfasts were not your run of the mill cheap tasting junk food, but great omlets, french toast, etc... Only blocks from the boardwalk and the beach. They also supply beach tags at no charge. The front porch was great and the entire place was quiet and relaxing. We will stay again!

“Had a great time!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 20 July 2008

I had to write this review after reading all the bad ones. We have stayed at the "Koo's koo's Nest" about five times or more. Everytime we go there our rooms are waiting for us even if we get there really late at night. (we have to travel a long ways to get there). We had stayed at another "Bed and Breakfast" in the past and when arriving late there was no one to be found. When I knocked on their door for assistance they pulled a knife on me. I would rather have Anna leave my key in the door with a note than stay somewhere else where you are locked out.

Also, we have clean towels, clean beds, clean rooms, toilet paper, a closet, drawers, tv with cable, a fridge, a bathroom and a whole lot of fun. No one follows you around complaining the entire time or nags at your family. There is daily maid service and clean towels are given out. If you need anything you just have to ask for it. There is also a receptionist who works for Anna. She takes care of your final bills and beach tags. If you get there too late to catch her the day you arrive she will be there in the morning.

Beach tags are given for a $20 deposit. When you leave you get the $20 taken off your room bill. I would operate this way also, because if you didn't you probably wouldn't get your beach tags back and they are expensive for innkeepers to buy.

Breakfast is great! There is fresh fruit, muffins, egg dishes with breakfast meats, yogurts, cold cereal and milk , bagels, pancakes, you just never know what will be out there. We had chocolate glazed fresh strawberries on one day. Also there is coffee, juice and a water cooler in the breakfast area. You can eat you breakfast on the porch because there are table and chairs on it.

The porch is great when you get back from the beach. There are hanging swings and lots of seating area. The hot tub is always ready to go and is not dirty. You can take your bikes and chain them under the porch.

All I can say is if you want the traditional hotel room with no personality, go to one of the local hotels. You will get your four walls. If you want to have a unique time, stay at Anna's.

P.S. The vault door which goes back to the families private living quarters is not made of steel. It is wood, painted silver, and you can knock on it. Anna also leaves you two numbers to reach her on.

“The Bed and Breakfast From Hell”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 20 June 2008

The Koo Koo's Nest B&B: Oh My God!
June 6, 2008.
From the very first communication I had with Anna the host, I kept hearing the voice of Rod Serling from the Twilight Zone with his classic introduction "You unlock this door with the key of imagination. Beyond it is another dimension - You've just crossed over into the Twilight Zone." What we unlocked was a Staph Infection waiting to happen. When we arrived and made our way to the room what we discovered was a short supply of towels and no soap, not to mention, a limited supply of toilet paper. When we inquired about getting an extra towel and soap, our host asked us if we were actually thinking of showering that night. Then we were asked what time we would like to have breakfast because personally our host did not like to get up before nine! When we asked about Beach Tags (Ocean City is a private beach) we were told no need to worry as the city was not yet enforcing the rules. (Guess again, the very next morning we found a beach tag enforcer standing next to the stairs leading to the beach checking for tags). Needless to say the wheels of buyer’s remorse was put into motion and did not get much better when I was finally forced to go out and buy a bar of soap at the local pharmacy. As we prepared for bed I noticed the duck tape covering a part of the shower door where someone's foot had decided to make a lasting impression. As for the bed, I could be wrong but the sheets did not have that "just cleaned feeling" but considering everything else that preceded this discovery I wasn't surprised. Not being able to sleep I got up around six, looked out the window overlooking the alley and saw the man Anna had introduced as her boyfriend pacing beside his truck...very strange indeed! As for breakfast, we gave up when at nine o' clock when there wasn't even the scent of a cup of coffee to be found anywhere. At this point we realized it would not be getting any better and decided to cut our losses and move to another place. If ever a person had chosen the wrong profession it was Anna from the Koo Koo's Nest who is clearly operating in another dimension of the Twilight Zone.
