I had to write this review after reading all the bad ones. We have stayed at the "Koo's koo's Nest" about five times or more. Everytime we go there our rooms are waiting for us even if we get there really late at night. (we have to travel a long ways to get there). We had stayed at another "Bed and Breakfast" in the past and when arriving late there was no one to be found. When I knocked on their door for assistance they pulled a knife on me. I would rather have Anna leave my key in the door with a note than stay somewhere else where you are locked out.
Also, we have clean towels, clean beds, clean rooms, toilet paper, a closet, drawers, tv with cable, a fridge, a bathroom and a whole lot of fun. No one follows you around complaining the entire time or nags at your family. There is daily maid service and clean towels are given out. If you need anything you just have to ask for it. There is also a receptionist who works for Anna. She takes care of your final bills and beach tags. If you get there too late to catch her the day you arrive she will be there in the morning.
Beach tags are given for a $20 deposit. When you leave you get the $20 taken off your room bill. I would operate this way also, because if you didn't you probably wouldn't get your beach tags back and they are expensive for innkeepers to buy.
Breakfast is great! There is fresh fruit, muffins, egg dishes with breakfast meats, yogurts, cold cereal and milk , bagels, pancakes, you just never know what will be out there. We had chocolate glazed fresh strawberries on one day. Also there is coffee, juice and a water cooler in the breakfast area. You can eat you breakfast on the porch because there are table and chairs on it.
The porch is great when you get back from the beach. There are hanging swings and lots of seating area. The hot tub is always ready to go and is not dirty. You can take your bikes and chain them under the porch.
All I can say is if you want the traditional hotel room with no personality, go to one of the local hotels. You will get your four walls. If you want to have a unique time, stay at Anna's.
P.S. The vault door which goes back to the families private living quarters is not made of steel. It is wood, painted silver, and you can knock on it. Anna also leaves you two numbers to reach her on.
