Stayed here for four weeks. The first week I was given a suite that had both a regular TV and an HDTV. They both worked fine, but they each had different channel schedules which was a little odd. There was a very bad smell in the hallways that week as well. The second week, when I arrived, they gave me a very nice room, but the bed hadn't been made up. So they put me in a different room, which was a handicap room. Why, I wouldn't know, because they were never completely booked up. The remaining two weeks, the rooms were ready on my arrival. One thing to note with Candlewood - they are primarily a long-term, residential style hotel. That said, there is no housekeeping on a daily basis. Ergo, rooms are not cleaned, trash is not picked up and towels are not replaced. Replacements for anything can be had at the front desk, but the effort has to be made to go there - nothing comes 'automatically'. Otherwise, the facility is fine for a low-budget stay. Some of the fabrics (e.g., rugs or blankets) are a bit frayed, which gives the appearance of neglect.

We've stayed here several times before when conducting business in Philadelphia. The drive to Philly is about 30 minutes. The hotel has definitely deteriorated since our first visit. I reserved a non-smoking room online and when checking in was told my prepaid price was way too low. Then, the front desk clerk gave us a non-smoking handicapped room. It would have been impossible to shower due to the configuration of the bathroom---which was set up perfectly for a wheelchair bound individual or someone who needs to sit while bathing. Neither my husband nor I require that. We attempted to get a non-handicapped non-smoking room and were given a runaround. Told first that none existed. Then told that we would have to take a smoking room. After much discussion, we were finally given a so called Priority Guest room. Guess what? It's no better, larger, cleaner, etc. than a regular room. Will not be going there again. There are lots of hotels in the area and we will try one of them.

Now mind you I usually choose to stay at the Hampton, but was looking for something a little less expensive on the way back to NY with my husband. We absolutely loved it. The room while slightly dated was very clean! We stayed in a suite with a kitchen. Complete with dishwasher and stocked with dishes, pots and pans, soap ect. We were able to go to Whole Foods grocery and get stuff to have a nice dinner together. There was DVD/VCR combo and the hotel has movies you can borrow as well. There is a fitness center, free laundry service, and mini grocery in it as well. The hotel also has a patio and grill that you can use as well. The bed was just as comfortable as beds we have stayed on at the hampton. would definately come back if traveling through again.

The night manager, after my initial inquiring and follow-up, admitted to the General Manager that he had entered my room, opened and ate some of the crackers I had brought to the hotel. He didn't confess until 3 days after my initial registration. After checking in I noticed that someone had entered my room that evening and opened and ate some crackers I had brought to the hotel. It caused me to "rig" my door every evening and through away any food that wasn't completely sealed due to the breach. The security of me and my family was "breached" by a staff member.
