“Great location, clean, no frills”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 November 2010

I stayed here for business in the area but drove out to Philly every afternoon for sightseeing. It is a convenient 10 or so miles - at the most 20 minutes leaving around 2 pm and returning around 6 pm. It is a old hotel and has old doors and old furniture but everything else has been redone. Fresh paint, recent enough carpets, newer light fixtures, linens, tapestries, mattress was comfy and newer, etc. It has an old fashioned tv (ie not flat screen) but the picture was fine. Everything was clean, maid service did a good job, front desk was friendly. The breakfast left a lot to be desired and isn't as good as other TownePlace Suites that I've stayed at but you are in New Jersey - you should be going out for delicious bagels anyway. If you can get a better deal here than the other surrounding Marriott properties, just stay here. I didn't use the pool here but I wouldn't get that excited, it is old but if you are looking for pool facilities you should be staying somewhere a lot nicer anyway. And there are two buildings but once you check in if you have to stay in the other building, there really is little need to go back to the other building unless you want to use the computer, fitness center or get the continental breakfast.

“Surprisingly not so great”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 23 October 2010

My husband and I decided to try out this relatively new hotel because of their pet policy. They allow pets with a $100 non-refundable deposit. We rented the studio suite. It looks pretty much like and Extended Stay unit, but to my surprise not quiet as nice. The room itself is large enough and comes with the standard galley style kitchen and square table. Everything seemed clean and in good working order. The furniture and carpets could have used a good cleaning, but not icky mold in the small but okay bathroom. The problem: the layout of the room was strange. A couch that was a hide-a-bed faced directly the bed. Couple you wouldn't want to bring your kids to this room. They'd be staring directly at you at all times. The TV was on an odd little cart that blocked the path out of bed and actually seemed dangerous especially for someone getting up at night. The bed was a queen and needed replacing. We both rolled to the center. The air conditioner / heating unit was really noisy, but worked okay. And the only mirrors in the room were in the bathroom which meant only one person could shower and dress at the same time. All in all, if you're on business or by yourself, the room is fine. If however you're traveling with your family or just with your partner, pick a different room or a different hotel. I'm surprised Marriott has put their name on a room that's this dysfunctional. We intended to stay 2 nights, but packed up and left after the 1st night.

“Basic Hotel Noisy At Night”

Check-n was a breeze. The hotel has two buildings. We stayed on the third floor, in a basic suite. At night people were loud outside, and kept us up for part of the night. The continental breakfast was ok. Glad we got the room for free.

“Great service & good value”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 October 2010

We spent 3 days here after staying at the hyatt summerfield down the street. While the hyatt felt bigger, the Towneplace was definitely cleaner. You could feel the difference when you walked in. The 2 bedrooms suite only had 1 bathroom but the bedrooms were large and comfortable. There was a ton of natural sunlight which was really nice. The staff was extremely helpful and friendly. Really I was very impressed with everyone I talked with. It was a nice change from most hotels and I am in one every week.
My only disappointment was that the kitchen was out of date and the same for the tv. We spent a lot of time relaxing in the room so a big tv would have been nice with ability to watch a movie. Also we could hear the people upstairs more then we would have liked too.

“Clean and comfortable”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 31 May 2010

I believe this must be an older TownePlace suites but they have done a lot to update it. My room had updated furnishings and bath fixtures but still older appliances in the kitchen (not a big deal as I only used the fridge and microwave anyway). Comfy bed. The TV was awkwardly positioned in the room but it was on a swivel table so that you could always turn it to face you... either toward the bed or toward the couch/desk. Not a flat screen.
The fitness room is small but has 1 elliptical, 1 treadmill, 1 recumbent bike, and a set of freeweights. Equipped with a water cooler and towels as well. Each cardio machine is pretty new and has its own personal TV.
I did not take advantage of the free breakfast items as I preferred to fix my own in my room. Location was great, right off I-295 and close to a lot of restaurants, grocery, and other shopping.
