“Convenient location, typical Hampton Inn”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 January 2012

I stayed here for a week on business. Booking went OK for me but in a group of 8 of us two had problems with part or all of their booking being missing. The hotel did it's best to find rooms day by day for those poor guys. The room was reasonably clean, but toilet was clogged on arrival and bath was shorted towels. A fiver in a note to the cleaning staff made sure I had everything ship-shape the rest of the stay. The soap here is sized like thin 1.5 inch chocolate wafers. Not so great for a guy who likes being clean. As others have said the free breakfast is good for business travellers wanting to get off quick. A bit heavy on carb based foods for folks on carb control diets. There was some protein early in week but none by Friday morning except for single serve yogurt and peanut butter. I found the bed covers either too heavy or light and would have liked just a sheet and medium weight blanket for that just right temperature. There was a plethora of pillows on the bed that allowed me to find one to my liking to sleep on. The rest I had to work to find a place to stow them out of the way every night. I'm not sure the room HVAC really responded to temperature control attempts to fix the above sleep comfort issue. Lot's of decent chain restuarants near by for B'fast, & dinner options. My group dined at some local neighborhood places for some authentic local experiences, Polish or Italian places were easy to find.

Room Tip: Double check your reservations a few days prior to arrival, they seem to lose them from time to tim...

“At least there's stuff to do in the area”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 November 2011

Stayed here for one night. It's just an average hotel, about 10 miles south of Newark Airport. The good thing about this hotel and some of the others along Rt. 1&9 is that it's closer to restaurants. The hotels near the airport really are not close to anything. This Hampton Inn is near an Applebees and Chevy's. And a Target if you want to go shopping or a movie theater. The hotel does have a shuttle and offers free wifi which is always a plus. Overall, it's one of the better hotels in the area but only because it has some other things near it.

“Fantastic, great value!”

Stayed here for 3 nights. Was a good and inexpensive option rather than paying NYC hotel prices. Free shuttle from Newark (we did wait over an hour though but it was rush hour!), and for return trip to airport too. Really can't fault this place, staff were excellent, breakfast really good, clean rooms and fairly quiet throughout. Linden train station just a 15 minute walk away through a nice residentail area, gets you to NY Penn Station for $16 return and only takes 30 minutes. Not sure if hotel offers shuttle to the station, should have asked as would be useful after a long day of pounding the NYC streets! Will definately stay again, booking for March '12 for 4 nights with other family members!

“Fairly decent, outdoor pool, breakfast items rationed”

This is a decent hotel is good surroundings. Target, Burger King, and many other stores are very close by. We had a room with two queen beds and the beds were clean and confortable. Had small refrigerator and microwave in the room as well as coffee maker. Breakfast was decent but the supply was not able to meet the demand so had to wait for most items. Our kids wanted to use the pool but it was outdoors and was closed since the manager was not available and the weather looked little cloudy.

“Not bad, but could use some upgrades”

Stayed at the hotel for a few weeks, due to nearby work. The hotel is a typical Hampton, so no surprises there. Many guests are contractors working at the local oil refinery. Biggest negative is the lack of HD television. They should be standard in mid range hotels these days. The area is ok, a few restaurants nearby.

Thank you for taking time to share your thoughts about our hotel. I did want to let you know that we upgrading all of our TV's by year end. We are just making sure that the TV's we are looking to purchase will be compatible with the new equipment we are in need of. Everyone is excited about the new TV's and I can assure you that they're coming.
