Ramada JC is situated in the heart of Jersey City's historic downtown area near the Journal Square transportation complex. The hotel has nice, very large rooms (much larger than I expected in a US hotel) and is quite cheap. The best part about staying here is that because of the Journal Square PATH station and the NJ Transit bus terminal, you're connected to Manhattan and a lot of Northern New Jersey through good public transportation. The hotel also provides a free shuttle to Newark airport which is a $20-25 taxi ride away in any case. Also, Newark Avenue (Jersey City's Indian street) is hardly 5 minutes walk away, so if you're an Indian, you can walk up to some nice Indian restaurants. The neighbourhood seems a little sketchy, but I lived in the area almost 2 years while studying in the US and its quite safe in my experience.

this hotel is excellent for exploring new york city, it is 2 blocks from the path train and five minutes later you are in new york. we used this train every day and we covered every inch of new york city from central park to world trading centre, we loved every minute of our 7 days. the hotel provides a bus to and from the hotel as its about half an hour from newark airport. the bad points are, we woke up one morning to find a dead bed bug on our sheet inside the bed and we did have bites on our legs, we told reception who asked us to go out for the day and they used heat treatment to kill the little nuisances, the manager also refunded us 2 days room charge. i know that new york hotels have a problem with bed bugs, so i wasnt upset, just surprised when other people told me this. but i was very grateful to be refunded some money.

We stay here as our second choice in Jersey City when visiting our daughters and NYC. The room we get generally has 2 queen sized beds in separate rooms, great if you have one of the kids staying over or you want to bring someone else in the family down to the NY/NJ metro area. The hotel may appear a little "run down" but it is well maintained, the rooms are clean, and the free breakfast is very good.
Now to park your car you have to walk a long city block to the Journal Square PATH Parking Garage and at night it can look a little intimidating but overall it's safe. The Journal Square PATH station is a 5 t0 10 minute walk from the hotel and then its 15-30 minutes into Manhattan. All in all very convenient to go NYC and not spend big $$$ on a hotel.

Hotel is 10 mins from Manhatten by PATH train. 3 min walk to station. Free breakfast and a cheap 24hour diner 2 mins walk if you want to eat cheap. Rooms are dated, but clean and spacious. Less than half the price of staying in NY. Staff are friendly and helpful. Would definitely stay again.
