I have stayed at this hotel several times over the past few years and will return at every opportunity.

The location is ideal, whether I want to visit friends in Atlantic City, go to a concert in Philadelphia, or hike in nearby Wharton State Forest.

The rooms are clean and well-kept; the decor is pleasant without being intrusive. I especially like the renovated bathroom with its tiled surfaces, granite sink, and ceiling heat lamp.

The breakfast room is a plus. Not only does it provide a satisfying meal (hot waffles!), its wide windows look out on an attractive woodsy landscape. It is a pleasant place to sit and talk at any time of day.

This is not a new facility, but it is constantly being upgraded, and every time I visit, I find that a thoughtful improvement has been added.

Most important to me, however, is the warm and welcoming atmosphere at this hotel. I've traveled coast to coast, and the service here is incredible. Extra towels? More soap? Smiling goodwill? You've got it!

The staff members are efficient, knowledgeable, and friendly. Other reviewers have noted the considerate, helpful attitude of the manager, and I agree with them -- he provides the essence of true hospitality.

HJ in Hammonton's a good choice for visiting Atlantic City on a budget: it has a great location for visiting Atlantic City (about 25-30min away), or for a day trip to Philly (45min).

When we first got to our room, the smell of cleaner was incredibly powerful - odd considering it was 10pm. We had to keep all the windows open, blast the AC and kept the door open for about 10min to air the place out. Not an issue since we had to unpack and such, but had we got in later and wanted to sleep right away, the smell would've been killer.

Rooms are somewhat tired, but the beds and pillows were very comfortable. Walls were pretty thin and sound carried, but thankfully we had good "neighbours" and did have any problems.

Staff were friendly and professional. When I asked to use the business centre to print something I was directed to the staff's office... which I found a little odd, albeit homey.

Did find it odd that the entire time we were there (two nights) the hotel sign on the high-way said "High peed intern" though...

Everything was fine with the room. It was clean and the price was good. It was very noisy with several groups having parties until 3 am. Several guest had dogs in thier trucks overnight and they barked through the night. Management needs to make sure the noise level outside the rooms is kept at a lower level.

It is well worth the stay, it's not a four star hotel but it is clean and nice. The staff is nice and accomodating.
