When we first arrived at the Quality Inn, the lobby and parking lot were quite crowded -- there was a concert nearby that evening and the hotel was clearly full of concert-goers (myself & my husband among them). There were two people working at the front desk but it took us over 40 minutes to get checked in. Our friends went to the restaurant, sat down, ate their food, and finished in less time than we spent standing in line. After we finally got our room assignment, we went to get settled in -- only to find that there were already people in the room we had been given. We went back to the desk to ask for another room (which took another 20 minutes!), and while my husband was standing in line, two other parties came up to the desk and said that they had also been given rooms with people already in them. When we eventually got another room, we found that THIS room was destroyed -- pictures torn off the walls, bed broken and tossed against the TV stand, and condom wrappers and boxes all over the floor. Yes, condoms. My husband went back to the front desk (this time quite agitated), and as he was standing in line (for another 15 minutes), he told the people next to him (who were ALSO having trouble checking in) about what had just happened. The lady at the front desk sarcastically said "Pretty juicy story, huh?" and then told him very loudly and condescendingly to "Settle down." The third room we got was dirty -- hair all over most of the towels and in the shower, but by then we had given up. Also, none of the ice machines worked at any point during our two night stay.
No apology. No remorse, no offer of compensation. This hotel is a disgrace, even for the $60 we paid. I've stayed at even cheaper hotels with much friendlier staff and more comfortable rooms. We weren't expecting luxury, and chose the hotel primarily because of its proximity to the the Susqehanna Bank Center, but a clean, unoccupied room at staff that was at least cordial would have been nice. The desk staff was very rude to many of the concert attendees, which is unconscionable considering that at least 75% of their business on the two nights we were there was because of the concert. This hotel sucked.
