Absolutely loved our stay and the cottage at the Widow McCrea House! I would highly recommend the cottage to anyone looking for a beautiful, romantic, private getaway. We enjoyed spending the days exploring Frenchtown, Lambertville and New Hope but looked forward to heading back to the cottage. We loved our nights in the sitting area with the beautiful gas fireplace, relaxing in the large jetted tub and falling asleep to the music on the surround system. The cottage is beautifully decorated and offers a sitting area, eating area, bedroom area and a wonderfully large bathroom. It was too cold to enjoy but when the weather is warmer there is a private patio also. Breakfast was home cooked and at our door step every morning in a large basket. At first we hesitated to spend more for the cottage over a regular room but it was worth every penny. We have stayed at many bed and breakfasts in New Hope, Stockton and Lambertville in the past but we are looking forward to our next visit to The Widow McCrea already!

The Widow McCrea is not an exceptional B&B. The rooms are pretty standard compared to other Victorian B&Bs. The public are is on the small side. The grounds are not spectacular with no real view and traffic noise of a busy road. However, we highly recommend the Widow McCrea because of the hosts. Their breakfast alone is worth the trip. They make a wonderful sitdown candlelit breakfast, well worth getting out of bed for. And the stories! Our hosts told plenty of tales of the house and the area that all the guests sat for a long time just listening. Sure there are better B&Bs, but there are not many better hosts.

An opportunity to visit with some old college friends led me back to an area near Buck's County that I've always loved, Frenchtown. I wasn't expecting much of a local inn but had heard some buzz about a little gem of a place close to New Hope but a far better value. Loving luxury and a good deal as much as I do, I was pleased to find both in Lynn Marad's jewel of a B&B. She and husband Burt do an exceptional job of making one's stay restful and fulfilling, with little extravagances abounding in the thoughtful breakfasts and the well appointed rooms. I felt "at home" immediately. Clearly, I found the best place in town and I'll be returning with a friend.

We spent another weekend at the Widow (this was our third stay). Simply the best place in New Jersey to bring your significant other for a romantic weekend. The accomodations at the Widow are fantastic and it is within walking distance to the center of town. Frenchtown is a beautiful small town situated on the Delaware River. There are great places to eat and the Delaware Raritan Canal State Park is fantastic to walk, run, or bike on.
