We chose this hotel because of reviews I'd read, its proximity to northern Manhattan, and price. It was just what we needed for a home base, and we would stay there again. The hotel is an older roadside motel that has been renovated by adding interior corridors and updating rooms. The new corridor adds security and buffers road noise, both of which were appreciated. The rooms, while small, were comfortable and clean. Our room had a queen bed and small sofa. It also included a refrigerator and small desk. The bathroom was well-fitted and fairly spacious. Given the size and quality of rooms in many New York City hotels, this one was more than adequate. Breakfast included various pastries, waffles, hard-boiled eggs, and other standard items. The breakfast area is quite small; some guests took their breakfast back to their rooms, which would not be ideal since you can't travel between the lobby and the rooms without going outside. Every member of the staff that we dealt with was friendly, courteous, and helpful--not always the case in a city hotel. This hotel is right on NJ 4 and can be a bit tricky to access when exiting I-95 from the east; move to your right as soon as you can as the entrance will be upon you quickly. I would not stay here without a car, but others did, so they must have decided the cost offset the hassle of getting around on public transportation from here. We were able to time our trips into Manhattan so that we weren't crossing the bridge during rush hour; if you could not do that, this location might not be worth it. We stayed in this clean, comfortable hotel, though, for two nights for less than we could have easily paid in mid-town, so it was a win-win for us.
