“Not so great.”

I'm surprised this hotel had the TripAdvisor reviews it did. The horrible man at the front desk did not honor our reservation for two beds, because there was an "inspection" the next day. I had a horrible migraine, so I just agreed to it, and asked for a discount - he gave us $10 off or something like that. I then asked for some recommendations on how to get to manhattan the next day. He was very dismissive and obviously didn't want to help. I then tried the keys, which didn't work. My boyfriend walked back to the office and got new keys. They didn't work either. The man then implied to my boyfriend that he was using the key wrong. Another employee came with him and verified that there was something wrong with the key system. that night someone rented the room above us, and it sounded like a 1,000 pound person with each step. also, there were flies in our room. Internet didn't work and breakfast was definitely continental - the only thing palatable was cheeerios. anything positive? shower was good, and they brought us blankets when we asked. we took the ferry from Weehawken to Manhattan the next day, so I recommend finding a hotel near there....

“Simple Ease”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 October 2011

My husband and I attended a sporting event in NJ, but needed to go to Manhattan the next morning. The hotels in NYC were extremely expensive because of the United Nations being in session. This hotel was reasonably priced and turned out to be very easy to get to NYC from. We paid $6.00 for a cab to the foot of the GW Bridge on the NJ side and then took a quick bus ride over the bridge to NY where we caught the subway down to midtown. It was a breeze. The hotel itself was fine, but don't expect any extras. Not even the remote for the TV worked. However, the front desk staff was nice and helpful and they had a lot for breakfast, including waffles, hard-boiled eggs, pastries and yogurt.

“Cheap hotel in NJ”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 September 2011

Pros: cheap, friendly staff, comfy bed, clean room... Cons: The hotel looks old and outdated. The carpeted floor was cold and felt damp even though I'm not sure it actually was. Our air conditioner worked very fast to cool and dry the room off in the hot wet weather we had, but it sounded like a lawn mower so we had to keep turning it off after the room cooled down. This is NOT a good place to stay if you are visiting NYC as the desk clerk told us there are no bus stops within walking distance (and it's on a highway so walking anywhere is difficult) so they suggested taking a cab to the GW Bridge and catching a bus to the Port Authority Terminal and then getting on the subway. This makes for a very long trip into the city. If you want to take a cab, be prepared to pay A LOT and good luck finding a cab that will bring you back to NJ. I can't even count the number of cabs we got in that told us they wouldn't go there. Transportation to and from the hotel was expensive, stressful and ruined our trip.

Dear Krowe2

Thank you for staying with us on your recent visit to the NJ/NY area.
I also wanted to thank you for taking time to complete a survey on your recent stay and I just wanted to let you know that we have replaced several units to ensure that such an event does not reoccur.
As for the transportation we have been working endlessly with our local cab companies in order to ensure that the hike in the toll prices does not affect our guest severely.
Please note that we take your safety very seriously and that is the main reason why we offer our guest options of cabs to the bridge or if they are in a rush directly to the train station.

We do take pride in our hotel and that is why your feedback is so important to us and we will continue to work hard to ensure that all of our guests are satisfy while with us.

“Great Stay”

Very short and sweet:
Great Hotel, very close to the city, took the ferry and it was a blast. Nice, clean rooms, free parking and the staff was excellent too. Would not hesitate to stay again in a heartbeat. Great option for those who want to be near Manhatten without spending a mini fortune.

“Good option”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 17 August 2011

Stayed here on a quick trip through New York and wanted to go into the city for a night without paying city prices. Hotel staff was efficient and professional. Hotel is close to busy roads, but was fairly quiet - it looks like they added a hallway outside of the doors to enclose the building and that helps keep the noise down. Room was not big, but you get what you pay for. This hotel was relatively clean, inexpensive and convenient.
