“NICE but could be cleaner”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 December 2011

Stayed here between flights and was pleased overall.
Reception staff was competant and helpful.
Room was spacious w/ large desk and well lit.
Bedding was nice, offered plenty of pillows.
Bath, this is the area that Renaissance surpasses its peers. It is large, well lit, stocked with plenty of linens, and offers Aveda bath products.

Arrived at hotel at 1pm and there were breakfast trays in the corridor.
The glasses in the bathroom had NOT been washed (one had water spots the other had lip gloss).
The armoire containing the the mini-fridge and coffee service had one paper cup and an empty cup wrapper (not been checked or restocked by housekeeping).

Room Tip: If you would like to view the airport activity ask for highest floor possible.

“This hotel staff and the overall environment is full of discrimination.”

The service of the staff was very displeasing. It'd unbelievable how many people of this world today still discriminate. I wouldn't recommend this hotel to a black cat!

“After several stays, it is consistantly the WORST place to stay by Newark airport”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 December 2011 via mobile

I have stayed here four times. Each time I call for them to send the hotel shuttle as soon as I walk off the plane. Each time it has taken 45 minutes or longer. There is always an excuse when I call back. This morning going back to the airport the van driver had the heat so high it was burning the legs of people sitting on the back seat. When asked to turn off the heat, the driver didn't know how to do it. I am not sure he spoke English.

In restaurant and bar service is below average. Hard to get anyone's attention to order. Last night I tried room service. My turkey club sandwich had hard, green tomatoes on it, the fries were hard as a rock because they were still cold, and my "glass" of wine was a portion not more than 1 inch high in a 4 inch glass. All that great service and food for only $50!!!! When I called the desk last night, AND complained again this morning all I got was a "Gee, sorry to hear that. We have already charged your card."

My company has us stay here. I am writing to stop that and go back to the Marriott

STAY AT THE MARRIOTT!

“Fantastic!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 December 2011

Wife and I stayed here for 1 night on a layover. The hotel feels quite large and is very well kept. Our room was on one of the higher floors and although we didn't take any pictures, the one posted by "MakingContrails" in April 2011 looks exactly like the room we stayed in.

More than a hotel room, it felt like a showroom for a new and fancy apartment building. The bed was super comfortable as was the Herman Miller Aeron chair that was in the room. There were computers available in the lobby with internet access which proved exceptionally useful since the laptop we brought broke early on in our trip. If I had to pick one thing that was a bit off, I would say that it was the showerhead which was mounted abnormally high making it impossible to adjust. I'm 6'2".

There are nice (but a little too fancy for our liking) dining facilities as well as the option to order in from a few take out places in the neighborhood.

The shuttle that takes you to EWR is quick, clean and leaves frequently.

“Park & Ride”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 December 2011

I read Branchy's review below of his unfortunate auto experience.
I just returned from a ten day trip where we utilized the park and ride package at the Renaissance for the third time. Our experience has been excellent and without incident. The lot is surrounded by a fence and I would think this location provides as much security as you are going to get.
The airport shuttle is prompt on both sides of the transaction. It leaves the hotel every twenty minutes beginning on the hour.
The hotel's recent renovations in the common areas of the hotel give it a feeling of luxury.
