“Great Place”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 25 May 2012

After a few bad experiences in motels on our visit to the USA this was just the medicine we needed. A beautiful place and friendly staff. I would recommend this hotel to anyone. It is in the colonial style and very impressive. I am so glad we stayed there. A special thanks to the front of house staff who made us feel so welcome.

Room Tip: King size room.

“Did not meet expectations.”

We stayed at the Colts Neck Inn, for our 25th anniversary, in a king suite. It sounded so charming. The water pressure and temperature in the shower was poor. The room was not very well lit. There weren't many outlets in the room and some of them didn't work. Breakfast consisted of bagels and donuts only. There was an "old house" smell to the hotel. The water was well water so it wasn't good for drinking. On the positive side, the staff was very friendly. We stayed at the Inn one night and went to Doubletree in Eatontown the second night. The Inn is DEFINITELY overpriced!

Room Tip: Get a room at another hotel instead.

“Waaaay overpriced! Water smell is horrible!”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 20 August 2011 via mobile

I consider myself a heavy traveler. Probably at least ten nights a month in a hotel. I've stayed in everything from one star to five stars. This place is probably a 1.5, but charges like it's a 4 star. It says in the room that it's remodeled. The bathroom is old and dingy at best, faucet was falling apart in the shower. And the stall is stained yellow even though it's grey. It's a minor point but it says the rooms have flat panel tvs, but ours has an old tube. Wifi doesn't really work. And yes no iron in the room, community iron. Seriously, I don't think I have, ever stayed in a hotel that didn't have an iron in the room, they are so cheap now a days anyways. Blinds are not that great, we were on the second floor and the headlights from the nearby road came in. Parking lot has horrible lighting. Front desk staff was short and not friendly. The WORST thing was the water. It stinks. It smells like wet dog. They have a note in the room that it's well water and it's safe to drink, but I could barely shower in it. Never mind brushing my teeth.I thought I was going to be sick. They should try and treat the water. I would not recommend this place at all, sleep in your car.

“Expensive and not nice”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 August 2011

So the positives is that it is easy to find and the staff is helpful and friendly. I was in town for a wedding so I did not need much help but they were nice and accommodating.
Negatives: for $150 I would expect a little more than what I got. The water smelled really bad---they said it was fine to drink but it was hard to brush my teeth and it's highly acidic so when it came out of the faucets it smelled like blood. It was unpleasant. We were on the first floor and it was noisy all the time with people walking right outside the room. The sheets were wet and moist even with the AC on. The bathroom did not look like it had been cleaned--merely freshened up. Another person staying in a different room (on the second floor) had a similar experience in their room. I did not complain to management because I was there for less than 12 hours.
Continental breakfast was weak also. They ran out of cream cheese for bagels and didn't refill. Again, I did not ask.
For their prices I think it is too much.

Room Tip: Stay away from first floor.

“Plenty of top golf courses in the area”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 20 June 2011

I stay here from time to time. Very convenient for golfers with 4 plus excellant courses within a mile circle. The rooms are fine and the staff helpful and friendly. There is a fine steak and chop+ restaurant on the grounds with a full service bar. What else does one need? The price is reasonable considering what an expensive area it's in.
