I had the chance to stay at the Crowne Plaza Clark shortly after the "Big October Blizzard" of 2011 that hit the NJ metro area. The staff at the hotel made me feel welcome and important throughout my stay. The rooms and public spaces were clean and comfortable and the food in the lounge and restaurant were excellent. The location right off the GSP made it easy to get everywhere I needed to go, and the convenient location to shopping malls and other stores made it easy to pick up items that I needed during my stay.

To be fair, this hotel is under renovation. We thought the front desk was good, bit our room smelled of smoke, the bathroom floor was sticky, could easily hear the people across the hall. If we travel to this area again, hopefully it won't be until the new, improved edition of this property is done.

Stayed for two nights in December of 99 dollars/night - breakfast was extra ($15 buffet) but delicious. Room was modern and bathroom was bright & clean. Front desk staff was cheery & pleasant. Only downside was a stale smoke smell in the nonsmoking room. Its something I got used to - but noticed every time I entered & exited. I would still come back & stay here, as it is a good value option close to the main roads in Central NJ.

The front desk guys were great. Very patient when I made a mistake booking my room (to arrive a day too late). Having been on a 9 hour flight, I was not in the best shape to deal with this.

Then the one gentleman happily called a cab for me to the Rahway train station, so I could meet friends in NYC. Note, the Rahway station looked a bit dicey during the day, but I was not at all uncomfortable when I came back around 9 PM. The train takes you to Penn Station, which is great if you have a midtown destination. But for Wall street it means taking a subway. Btw Penn Station at 5 PM is a zoo. I guess I knew that as a previous resident.

The internet was strange, it worked without a fee the first few days, but by the last night it required a credit card. As a member of their frequent traveler club (Priority?) it's may have been possible to get free internet access but I didn't bother to ask.

Breakfast was a bit expense at 16 or 17 USD for the full buffet. I think they charge less if you just have continental, but that wasn't explained to us and I never bothered to ask.

The room was comfortable and the TV had plenty of channels.

As I was there for business just down the road in Clark, the location was fine. If you plan on going into NYC a lot, I would recommend someplace else.
