“Getaway Girls Weekend”

Our group stayed at the Buttonwood Manor for the 3rd straight year for our annual getaway weekend. We book the entire facility. And as usual the Innkeeper and Akwaaba staff was a pleasure to deal with. The breakfasts were delicious and Sabrina did a great job of accommodating our special requests. The owner, Monique, even made a surprise visit on Sunday which really topped off our wonderful weekend. The propertly is in a great location where you have a sort walk to both the beach and shopping. Our group also stayed at Akwaaba's D.C. location twice and had a fabulous time there as well. Akwaaba's attention to detail and personal service make it an excellent choice for individuals, couples or groups!

“Suggest Trying Another Venue”

The service was excellent, as was the breakfast. The bed we slept on was very comfortable. My biggest suggestion for improvement is the bathroom. The bathroom was tiny. The shower in our suite was small and awkward to use, as was the bathroom sink. Guest towels needed to be newer and preferably white. Out bathroom was unpainted with only primer on the wall.

“Could not have asked for a better place to stay in Cape May!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 July 2011

I booked Akwaaba by the Sea for my husbands' birthday. It was our first time at a B&B but whatever fears I had were gone the moment we pulled up to the property. We were promptly greeted by Sabrina who is wonderful. She gave us a tour of the lovely property and showed us to our room. We stayed at the Buttonwood Manor property in Lizzie's Loft! It is the only room on the top floor and it was beautiful! It also smelled awesome which was a major plus for me.

Each day at 4pm, Sabrina bought out 'goodies'. Our first day she bought out cheese and crackers and a homemade apple pie that was to die for. Then she topped it off with homemade iced tea that was delicious. We also had breakfast each morning at 9:00am prepared by Sabrina and staff (her husband Steve was also fantastic!). The french toast was the BEST I've ever had and the fresh fruit each morning was great.

The location is perfect...walking distance to the beach, great restaurants, bars, downtown. Absolutely the best place to stay in Cape May.

If you are on the fence about staying at a B&B, please please please give this place a try. You will not be disappointed. My husband and I are already planning to go back around Christmas time with our daughters.

Thank you Sabrina, Steve and the rest of the staff for an unforgettable weekend.

Room Tip: Lizzie's Loft is a must!!

“We were calmed, comfortable, and relaxed and would love to return”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 July 2011

A very long overdue treat for a busy husband and a "powered-down" wife. And it was a pleasant "re-treat".......truly slowed down and relaxed.
Thank you to Lilia. It was a pleasure to have met her, that included comforting us with morning libation, nourishment, and little of personal herself--- it was good and warm and giving.
Nice to meet Sabrina and her other half-------she was friendly and also shared----- all was well.

Also Thank you to Monique for creating "another HOME for travelers"!!!!!

“We Always Feel "Welcome" at Akwaaba!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 June 2011

My family and I (nine adults and one adorable toddler) stayed at Akwaaba this past weekend. We were all long-overdue for a much-needed get-away, and Akwaaba was the perfect place to stay for the rest and relaxation that we needed! We stayed in The Buttonwood Manor (the Sophia room) and its carriage house (which houses two large suites), and our accommodations were perfect--elegant, neat, clean, and comfortable (not stuffy!). The innkeeper, Sabrina, and her husband, Steve, welcomed us and treated us like family the entire weekend, and they were consummate hosts--even going to the trouble of making a special trip to the supermarket to buy special breakfast items for the vegetarians in our party! We love Akwaaba, but we are a little biased--this was my *fifth* stay at Akwaaba (the first summer that I learned of the place I loved it so much that I made a return trip that same summer) and my mother's *third.* If you're looking for comfort, history, charm, peace, a warm welcome, and opportunities to meet wonderfully nice people (coincidentally, my best friend's neighbors were also vacationing at Akwaaba that same weekend!), then Akwaaba is the place to stay in Cape May!
