“Homey & spacious with water view”

Our usual high-end hotel in Cape May is not open in the month of January and we don't usually get away so deep into the off-season. These rates were SO low I was concerned that it would not be as nice as advertised but we booked a room because I liked the reviews and have always been happy with hotels when Trip Advisor reviewers agree. We were very happy with our stay, starting with the cozy office and pleasant, cheerful woman who checked us in. The 2-room suite was spacious - more than I expected - and everything was very clean and looked recently remodeled: no odors or 'cover up' smells, clean edges (woodwork, caulking), spic-n-span kitchen area with new-style countertops, similar in bathroom - with a nicely-tiled surround tub/shower...even the ceiling. Better yet were all the little touches that made you feel welcome and instantly relaxed after the trip to get there, like the room was prepared for our visit: heat was on and cozy, fridge was cold, water was hot right away - no waiting. Our usual place has private balconies, right-on-the beach views and peaceful surroundings farther from the commercial zone. We didn't give up too much because Camelot has a balcony (though not private) and beach views (just 100 yards or so from the beach) and quiet because it's set back from the main road - but only about HALF the cost. It was nice to be closer to the main shopping and eating areas because there are no crowds in January to get away from! Our stay was only for a short weekend but I could easily have been happy there for a week or more - the room was more like a small apartment and a family of four would not have been cramped. I can't can't say how it would be in high season but we'll likely return here again, even after our usual hotel reopens. We saved enough to splurge on lobster for dinner :-) and still felt like a cheap weekend.

Room Tip: Better ocean views from 3rd or 4th floor (miniature golf area between lot and beach)

“Best place to stay in Cape May”

After spending every summer for the last 12 years at Camelot, we recently spent our first off season stay in Cape May and would not have stayed anywhere but the Camelot Motel. Even though most of the "beach" was closed the view was beautiful and I can't imagine staying anywhere else. The people are friendly, the unit is clean and well cared for. It is walking distance to all the attractions of Cape May. Park your car for the whole time and walk. Bike rental is next door in the summer and the beach a walk across the street. Great place no matter what the season.

“Great Place - You can trust the tripadvisor reviewers”

Chose Camelot because of the positive reviews on trip adviser. We are budget travelers and we found everything to be satisfactory for the price. The staff was extremely helpful and friendly. Our room was clean, even the carpet looked new. The location was great, we had a small view of the ocean from the second floor which I believe they call a 2 room efficiency. We had a TV room with a dinette set and small kitchen with a sink, full size coffee pot, small refrigerator, microwave and electric burners and two double beds. The heating system worked fine. I will point out a few things you might want to know. The efficiency rooms did not have the coffee pods or shampoo samples, but I did receive them when I asked the front desk. The other thing some of you may want to know is that both double beds are situated pretty much up against the wall. Overall I thought we got a great deal for the price.

Room Tip: We were on the second floor which had a limited ocean view outside the front door, and only because...

“We love the Camelot!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 17 December 2011

The Camelot is not a luxury property. However, if you are looking for a clean, safe, reasonably priced motel in Cape May, please do not overlook this property! They have fabulous ocean views and are right in the heart of it all while maintaining a peaceful atmosphere. My husband and I discovered this little gem three years ago after grossly overpaying for other Cape May motels and have been returning ever since! Don't forget to bring your bikes! They have lock up racks on the side of the motel.

Room Tip: all of the rooms have ocean views!!!

We have been coming to Cape May for a few decades now. We love coming to this little beautiful town for shopping, excellent choice of food and a peaceful start to our Christmas season. The Camelot Motel has a good view of the ocean, it is clean and a great value for your dollar. The staff has always been friendly and helpful. We will be going again next year for our 5th year.

Room Tip: Call early they go quickly
