We live in Ridgewood NJ and love the ocean. For many years we have traveled to Cape May, a drive of about four hours. This year, we decided to go closer, and did not want to sacrifice the things we need in order to relax:
o A family setting
o Persistent customer focus (on us); and since we are both sentimental
o The comfort and attention to detail of an earlier time
o Last and least a degree of economy
We do three things when we are at the ocean. Read/relax on the beach, take long walks on the boardwalk, and dine.
We found the Morning Dove Inn on the internet. We have stayed at the Inn more than once this summer.
The Inn is just over an hour from our home. The Inn directly faces Silver Lake, which is across the street, and it is is a short two block walk to the boardwalk and beach. The Inn is spacious and comfortable inside, including a porch and Solarium that receive gentle breezes from the ocean and lake. Though the boardwalk is very close, the Inn and the street outside are quiet and orderly. It is very relaxing to sit on the front porch, and watch the family of swans swim on the lake, and the two fountains. Excellent restaurants are within walking distance, some directly on the boardwalk with a view of the ocean.
Innkeeper Carol Lee is the Inn's greatest unexpected positive. Carol Lee and her staff make all guests feel welcome. Carol Lee personally greets guests warmly upon arrival. By the end of breakfast, which is well prepared and delicious, everyone at the dining room table has become well acquainted.
We consider the Inn to be our home away from home at the New Jersey Shore, and have already planned our next visit.
