I will begin by saying we loved this place so much that we booked for 2011 back when we were there in July/August 2010. Just a short couple of hours drive from New York, this place is a little "heaven" tucked away in Barnegat Light.
Yes, it's all the way on the end but you know what? It's a really great location. You are right near the lighthouse (yes you can walk it but we took the car). You are across the street from the water and you can watch the boats passing by and the sunset.
We stayed in 2 different rooms during our visit. This is because we decided to extend our 3 night stay to 4 and our room was not available for the extension. Well was I glad it wasn't because we got the opportunity to stay in the "Sunset Vista Suite". This room is fantastic! Gorgeous! Beautiful views of the sunset. Four poster king size bed with fire place and jacuzzi and kitchentte. Perfect! Then we stayed in the "Beachcomber" room. This was a very, very pretty room with king size bed, nice size flatscreen tv and a huge bathroom equipped with a large walk-in shower (no tub).
This place is so quiet and relaxing. The pool and premises were always clean and quiet. There's even a jacuzzi outside!!! You can even borrow bikes for free. At night we enjoyed sitting on the roof enjoying the enveing breeze (theres a table and chairs up there). In the afternoon we enjoyed the pool after driving around sightseeing all day.
You get served a delicious breakfast every morning. Nancy is there to greet you and talk to you. She's a really great host! Soda is kept in the kitchentte which is located near the rooms. As for dinner and lunch, there are PLENTY of delicous restaurants all thru the strip. There's a nice restaurant/bar right next door called Kubels. They serve yummy burgers for sure! You can even grab sandwhiches or heros at the deli nearby the lighthouse AFTER you have climbed to the top of it (great pictures here).
Don't forget to take the sunset cruise, it's about $10 right across the street. This is absolutely gorgeous! The beach is gorgeous and clean too. Nice and quiet! Other things to do is drive about 30-45 mins to an amusement park (forgot the name).
For the evening we happen to catch a Rod Stewart impersonator at a place on the strip-lots of fun. By the way, if you are looking for wild crazy fun for nightlife, this end of the strip is not for you.
Anyway, I am so excited about going back all I can do is stare at the website all the time and dream until our return trip this upcoming July/August!!!
